Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s newest parrying feature is an upgrade to the combat system over the last two installments by Insomniac Games.
Parrying attacks in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can be tricky since it’s a new feature that was previously absent in the prequels. It’s one of those essential game mechanics in a combat-oriented game that is always the most fun to master. It requires time and patience to match the exact timing for a parry, making it an important skill to invest time into as well.
In this title, parrying plays an important role in boss fights where players might need to use the feature often since a lot of the attacks would be unblockable. Additionally, several NPC enemy types have attacks that would require Peter and Miles to parry, making it a must-learn skill to minimize damage from enemies. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Parrying Guide
Blocking in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is quite simple, as it can be done just by pressing the L1 key. However, parrying requires timing even though the same key is used. Under normal circumstances, players can dodge attacks when their Spider-Sense pops up, but hits that can be parried are denoted by a yellow and red marker. Blocking these attacks will result in Peter and Miles sustaining damage.
To parry these attacks, wait until the yellow marker turns red and press L1 at the moment when the enemy is about to land the hit. Doing so will push back the enemy and open up a chance for a counter-attack. While players would not need to use the mechanism when facing most enemies, several use Heavy Attacks that have to be parried.

All Bosses in the latest Spider-Man title can use Heavy Attacks. It is necessary that one learns how to parry to be able to counter them. Thus, players need to be on the lookout for these bosses in the title:
