While exploring the world, every now and then, you will come across a strange chest held down to its spot with shiny golden chains. When you approach it, however, you’re unable to open it. Your character will remark, almost tauntingly, that it is locked. A message will then display stating that you require a Whispering Key.

You know what chest we’re referring to. The Silent Chests in Diablo 4 are random chests you find while exploring the game’s overworld. These chests contain lucrative items and can only be opened by using a special key, one that can be a little tricky to find. How To Open the Silent Chests

Now, as we stated earlier, the Silent chests are random chests found all across the overworld in Diablo 4. When you approach any of these chests, the game tells you that you the chest is locked and can only be opened with a Whispering Key. Therefore, if you wish to open these mysterious chests, you first need to find the Whispering Key. Once you have the key, head over to the Silent chest you seek to open and interact with it. The chest will then open, and will drop out all the contents within.

Now, if you don’t have a Whispering Key in your possession, don’t worry. The Whispering Key item is fairly easy to obtain and is available in abundance. To get this item, head over to the Purveyor of Curiosities NPC. This NPC is found across the world in all the major hubs. Next, follow the steps below:

Interact with the Purveyor of Curiosities NPC to bring up their inventory.
Scroll down all the way through the inventory.
At the bottom, you will find the Whispering Key.
Purchase the item for 20 Murmuring Obols.

Since the Purveyor of Curiosities NPCs sell the Whispering Keys, the Whispering Key locations are the same as the NPC locations and are in the following locations:

Fractured Peaks
Scosglen
Dry Steppes
Kehjistan
Hawezar
