YouTube and Rumble streamer Herschel “DrDisrespect” Beahm revealed that his YouTube channel is monetized again after a six-month block. The platform demonetized his channel after he was accused of and admitted to inappropriately messaging a minor. However, the streamer claimed that he did nothing illegal and there were no official charges against him.

The streamer was banned on Twitch in June 2020 after internal investigations, but YouTube didn’t take any action. Twitch didn’t issue a public statement at the time, but DrDisrespect spoke about the allegations in 2024, which led to YouTube’s demonetization.

The streamer took a break from streaming and returned to YouTube on September 6, 2024. His channel’s ad revenue was blocked, but he earned money from donations. After nearly six months, YouTube remonetized his channel.

Why Did YouTube Demonetize DrDisrespect’s Channel?

YouTube never clarified the reason for demonetizing DrDisrespect’s channel. The streamer told his fans that it was due to the allegations. In a now-deleted post on X, he addressed the allegations, saying:

“Were there Twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed.”

His response sparked debate online, with many arguing Doc doesn’t deserve a second chance. After nearly six months of demonetization, the controversial streamer announced:

“YouTube Monetization… is back!”

Streaming platform Rumble recently signed DrDisrespect for $25 million. He heads the platform’s gaming content team while also multi-streaming on YouTube.

Midnight Society Studio Announces Its Shutdown

On the same day, DrDisrespect announced his remonetization on YouTube, he also had some bad news. Midnight Society, the game development studio Doc founded, announced its shutdown. The studio announced in an X post:

“Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers contributing to our new IP DEADROP. We are actively seeking other game studios that would be interested in offering employment opportunities to our talented team members. If you know anyone who’s hiring please forward this message to them or DM us for direct intros.”

The studio apologized to its fans by saying:

“We express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of our community members and deeply sorry we were unable to reach our ultimate goal.”

Gamers who backed DrDisrespect’s project asked about refunds, and the studio has not commented on the issue yet. The studio removed DrDisrespect after an independent investigation into his allegations. He lost his status as a co-founder, but the DEADROP battle royale was still built upon his “vertical battle royale” concept.
