Ars Dimicatoria is one of many side missions in the Kuttenberg region of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Kuttenberg is the biggest city in KCD 2, and when you see it for the first time, with its huge side and side contents, it can feel overwhelming. However, in this article, we will talk about a particular side quest. On the north side of Kuttenberg, you will meet a man named Menhard, who is easily one of the most unique characters in the game.
You will see Menhard swinging his swords at anyone who passes him, and when you speak to him, he will challenge you to a duel. If you win, he will help you improve your sword skills. So let’s go through the entire Ars Dimicatoria quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
How To Complete The Ars Dimicatoria Quest In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To find Menhard van Frankfurt and start the quest, go to the street north of the Iron Eagle Tavern. Remember—Menhard won’t be there at night, so you must go there when the sun is up. When you get close, you will see him trying to challenge everyone he sees into a fight. Now, speak to him and accept the duel. After you deal or receive a certain amount of damage, the fight will be interrupted by some men.
These people will tell you that they do not want you to have a sword fight on the streets. You can calm these people down through dialogue if you pass a skill check. If you convince the men then Menhard will ask you to meet at the Emperor Charles Tavern in the city. However, if you lose the skill checks and the people banish Menhard—you will have to meet him in the Oak Wagoner’s Inn outside of Kuttenberg.
Learn About Menhard’s Plans
When you speak to Menhard in either of the Inns we mentioned, he will ask you to steal the brotherhood’s sword so he can hang it above the guild hall to humiliate them. Additionally, you should do this during the night to avoid getting caught. You will find the guild hall in the southwestern part of the city.
The hall’s front door will have a lock with a very hard difficulty level so if your current lock-picking skills aren’t enough, we will tell you a different way. So, go to the right side of the yard and you will see some stacked logs there. Go over them to reach the backyard of the hall. There will be guards patrolling that area, so keep your eyes open. You can then lockpick the hard door on the back or the side door.
Steal The Guild Longsword
When you are in, go to the second floor and then take the door to your right. You will find the Guild Longsword on a wall close to the head of the table in that room. Steal it and make your escape from the guild hall. You can go back the way you came from, or if you do not see any guards around, just take the front door and leave.
Now, go straight to the town hall. It will be right in the middle of Kuttenberg. The town hall is an important part of the city, so there will be many people around it during the day, so wait till it is dark outside. Once inside the hall, interact with the wall to place the sword there. Once it is done, go back to Menhard and tell him that it was a successful heist. After that, you and Menhard will go to the town hall together.
Win The Duels
While on your way, agree with him that you will help him out with the upcoming challenge. Then to enter the tournament, you must join the swordfighting brotherhood. If you defeated Menhard in your first duel then they will let you in right away. However, if you did not then you will have to beat Menhard first. Tell Menhard that you are ready after taking the oath and he will take you to the duels.
Go and wait in the yellow corner when ready. You can also go to the bathmaid and repair your armor and weapons after each fight. We recommend that you save before the duel starts.
Complete The Quest
When you have defeated all three members of the Brotherhood, wait a few days for Menhard to take over the hall. You can do other side content during this period to pass the time. After three days, you will notice that the objective will be updated. Then simply go to the sword fighting hall and speak to Menhard to complete the Ars Dimicatoria side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
