Learn how to defeat Erik easily in a duel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, including the easiest technique to use against him and some helpful tips and tricks.

Erik is one of the main antagonists in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. He was mainly under the leadership of Istvan Toth, but since you have killed him back in Trosky, he will come for revenge on multiple occasions in Kuttenberg. As every time you manage to get away from Erik, he will finally send out a message via Kubyenka. During the final moments of The Italian Job quest, you will see Kubyenka’s horse taking an arrow, which will make Kubyenka get captured by Erik’s men.
On the next day during the Civitas Pragensis quest, you will see Kubyenka ride into Suchdol safe and sound. Upon questioning Kubyenka, he will reveal that Erik has challenged Henry for a duel. Now, it is up to you whether you will accept the duel or neglect it. Accepting the duel will lead to a fight with Erik at Sigismund’s Camp. However, due to the limitations of the open world, you will have to manage to defeat Erik with the gear you already have. In this guide, we will tell you how to defeat Erik easily in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, including the best technique and a cheese method as well.
Where to Find Erik for a Duel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Erik will be waiting for Henry at Sigismund’s Camp, but you do not have to ride out on your own. Once you have accepted the duel, you just have to speak with the guard next to the gate of Suchdol. Henry will ride out to Sigismund’s Camp on his own, initiating a cutscene.
It is because at this point, the open-world exploration will be locked. You cannot freely explore the region or get the essentials that you want. It is what makes this fight difficult. You have to utilize the gear you have and you must be prepared before heading out of Suchdol.
Possible Preparations to Make Before the Fight with Erik in KCD2
Since you cannot leave Suchdol to get the better gear and essential items for the fight, you must utilize the facilities available at Suchdol. Unfortunately, the Blacksmith will also be unavailable at this point in Suchdol. However, you can still sharpen and repair the weapons using the Sharpening Wheel beside the Blacksmithing Station. Moreover, if you are low on healing potions like Marigold, go to the Alchemy station and brew a few of them. If your health is not full, drink a Marigold and wait for it to replenish before initiating the fight.
Additionally, you must keep your armour in peak condition. If you have the Armourer’s Kit on you. Use it to repair your armour, especially the torso and head piece. Other than that, there is nothing much that you can do to prepare for this fight. Once you are ready, speak with the guard to get to the duel location.

How to Defeat Erik in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Fighting with Erik takes a different approach than the usual fights throughout the game. Instead of being aggressive and dominating your opponents, it is best to be defensive in this fight. Erik is a strong challenge in KCD2 and strikes efficiently. Moreover, he ripostes almost every attack and he can also hit you with a Master Strike. So, the best technique for this fight is to use Master strike on him instead of getting hit by Master Strike from him.
Throughout this whole fight, you just need to be on defense and move the attacking zone opposite of his. If his weapon is on the left side, move your attack zone to the right and wait for him to swing. As soon as he strikes, do your attack from the opposite direction to hit him with the Weapon Strike.
I personally used the Weapon Strike for the whole fight, and he was not able to land a single strike on me for most of the time. However, he will speed up his attacks from moment to moment during the fight, which can completely catch you off-guard. If you do get hit by his attack, go straight to blocking to prevent getting hit again.
I got hit like 3 times during the fight and half of my HP was gone, because his strikes deal so much damage. You must keep your eyes on his weapon and change the attack zone opposite of his weapon after every weapon strike. After landing every weapon strike, try to keep moving backward or sideways so you can have a bit of time to adjust the attacking zone.
Simply, rinse and repeat this technique until a cutscene begins and you will defeat Erik.

NOTE: This fight can roughly take about 10-13 minutes while playing defensive and using Master Strike.
Be patient during the fight and just focus on getting a hit in with the Master Strike. You can try and advance on him with overhead attacks, but there is a chance that he might catch you off-guard.
Cheese Method to Defeat Erik in KCD2
Apparently there is a cheese method to defeat Erik as well. We personally did not try this method, but there are several players confirming this trick. The cheese method to defeat Erik is to use a hand cannon against him. To do this method, you need to load a hand cannon prior to the fight. Before heading out of Suchdol to fight Erik, load the gun with a lead shot. Once you start the fight, make a lap around the area to get a distance between you and Erik. After that, aim at Erik and light the gunpowder to shoot Erik.
If you hit the Erik accurately, the cutscene will start instantly, ending the fight. Now, I personally don’t know whether this method is legit or not but if you want to give it a try, you can.
