Pokemon Day is a yearly tradition that celebrates the launch of the original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green. On February 27, 2025, the Pokemon Broadcast took place to celebrate Pokemon Day and also revealed many upcoming new content. Near the beginning of the broadcast, some exciting news was shown regarding the new card pack, “Triumphant Light,” coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket.
This pack, featuring Arceus EX in the spotlight, is set to release on February 28, 2025. This is within one month of the release of their major expansion, Space-Time Smackdown, which featured Dialga & Palkia along with many other Generation Four Pokemon. The new pack, which will be the A2a expansion, seems to bring many other cards besides Arceus EX and will likely shake up the meta.

Brand New Exciting Cards and Abilities
Aside from the broadcast, The Pokemon Company also uploaded a separate video featuring many of the upcoming cards. Some of the more noticeable ones are Garchomp EX, Leafeon EX, and Glaceon EX, which seem to have brand-new abilities. You can also see two new trainer cards showcasing Adaman and Irida from Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
You can also see eight rare cards with brand-new abilities called Power Link. All these Power Link cards seem to take -30 damage whenever you have Arceus EX in play. Additionally, it can also be seen that the Power Link ability is given to one Pokemon from each of the element types present in the game, except Dragon and Colorless, which is Arceus’s element.
This matches the theme in the Pokemon franchise of Arceus being a godlike entity with control over all the other elements. Arceus EX also has an ability called Fabled Lustre, which negates all special conditions from this card. Additionally, the Pokemon with the Power Link ability shown in the video are:
- Tyranitar (Fighting)
- Carnivine (Grass)
- Raichu (Electric)
- Magnezone (Steel)
- Heatran (Fire)
- Rotom (Psychic)
- Crobat (Dark)
- Abomasnow (Water)

Free Rewards and Ranked Matches
Lastly, at the end of the video, it is revealed that ranked matches are now coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket. The release date of this feature is set to be near the end of March, which is one month from now. This is a good amount of time to collect the brand-new cards from the Triumphant Light expansion pack.
You can also claim three booster packs from the inbox section of your Pokemon TCG Pocket. However, this reward is only available from February 27, 2025, to April 30, 2025. Each of the packs is guaranteed to include an EX card or above upon opening. Finally, the packs you receive are:
- 1x Genetic Apex – Charizard
- 1x Genetic Apex – Pikachu
- 1x Genetic Apex – Mewtwo
