This Hydro DPS character debuted during Version 4.1 of Genshin Impact. He made a lasting impression on fans due to his story significance and his extremely strong kit, which saw him catapulted to the highest-ranked teams. Even now, Neuvillette ranks among the best DPS characters in the game.

Here is a complete analysis of Neuvillette’s entire kit, from his normal attacks to his talents.

Normal Attack: As Water Seeks Equilibrium

This is Neuvillette’s basic attack, which can be performed with no cooldown. This can be used to chain a combo of three hits. However, this is not the main source of his damage. Neuvillette’s main damage-dealing capabilities arise from his charged attack.

Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment

Holding down the attack button makes Neuvillette charge up his attack. However, during this state, his movement becomes slower than normal. Additionally, he can absorb any Sourcewater Droplets in the vicinity.

Consuming these Sourcewater Droplets will shorten the charging time needed for performing a charged attack. If three Sourcewater Droplets are absorbed, then the Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment gets unleashed instantly. This is the primary source of damage from Neuvillette’s kit.

While unleashing Equitable Judgment, Neuvillette does not lose any stamina (unlike other charged attacks, which consume more stamina). Equitable Judgment unleashes a Hydro torrent in front of Neuvillette, which you can then aim to hit multiple enemies. However, note that if Neuvillette’s HP is above 50% while performing this attack, he will continuously lose HP until he reaches 50%.

This Charged Attack lasts for 3 seconds and deals damage based on Neuvillette’s maximum HP. After this, Neuvillette will have to charge up another Equitable Judgment.

Elemental Skill: O Tears, I Shall Repay

His Elemental Skill will unleash one instance of AOE (Area of Effect) Hydro damage. This attack scales off Neuvillette’s maximum HP as well. Moreover, using the Elemental Skill summons three Sourcewater Droplets in the vicinity.

These can then be absorbed by Neuvillette to restore his HP and perform his Charged Attack. Lastly, at certain intervals, this attack also deals Pneuma-aligned Hydro damage.

Elemental Burst: O Tides, I Have Returned

His Elemental Burst generates a huge wave that deals AOE Hydro damage. Following this, two more waterfalls will descend upon the enemies, dealing AOE Hydro damage in a similar area. This entire Elemental Burst scales off Neuvillette’s maximum HP as well.

However, the more important part of his Elemental Burst is that it generates six Sourcewater Droplets. This Burst lets Neuvillette perform a series of Charged Attacks. Therefore, you should use the Burst when your skill is not available or to start the combo.

First Ascension Passive: Heir to the Ancient Sea’s Authority

Whenever a reaction takes place with the Hydro element (Swirl, Vaporize, Frozen, Bloom, Electro-Charged, or Crystallize) while Neuvillette is on the team, he will gain one stack of Past Draconic Glories. These can be stacked up to a maximum of three times. One stack lasts for 30 seconds and exists independently from other stacks.

Each stack of Past Draconic Glories makes Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment deal 110%/125%/160% of its original DMG.

Fourth Ascension Passive: Discipline of the Supreme Arbitration

This passive ability makes Neuvillette gain a 0.6% Hydro damage bonus for every 1% of his current HP above 30% of his maximum HP. The maximum bonus that can be gained this way is 30%.

For instance, if Neuvillette’s current HP is at 50%, he will gain a 12% Hydro damage bonus (20 x 0.6).

Utility Passive: Gather Like the Tide

While Neuvillette is in the party, he will increase the underwater sprint speed of all party members by 15%. This effect does not stack with other passives that provide the same effect. This makes Neuvillette one of the best teammates to include while underwater.
