About five years after his indefinite suspension on July 23, 2020, former Super Smash Bros player Gonzalo “ZeRo” was unbanned by Twitch on March 12, 2025. The esports player was accused of sexual wrongdoing at the time. Additionally, Gonzalo even acknowledged sending improper and explicit messages to children, but he denied knowing they were underage.

ZeRo retired as a result of Facebook Gaming, Twitch, and his esports team Tempo Storm separating from him. The former professional esports player has subsequently taken back his alleged confession. Moreover, he was allegedly hospitalized in 2021 after apparently attempting suicide.

ZeRo sued Jisu, his former roommate, in the same year, alleging that she had defamed him with some of her accusations. He stated that this caused him to lose his Super Smash Bros. career. According to his legal team, Jisu’s allegations that he showed explicit advertisements and offered to fly out a minor were untrue.

ZeRo Appealed To Twitch to Lift His Ban

ZeRo asserted in a 2022 video that Jisu had removed all of her accusations from the internet and that the litigation had been resolved. He also appealed Twitch’s ban at the time and asked his fans to post on social media at his request. He said:

“I will also be formally appealing my ban to Twitch. They actually indefinitely banned me from the events of 2020. They never really gave me a chance to defend myself and I feel like I should not be banned anymore. As a matter of fact, I will appreciate you guys supporting me in the matter, either supporting the cause for me to get unbanned, or if anybody knows anybody that I should talk to that I can present a well-appealed case to, I’m all ears.”

It took Twitch nearly three years to lift ZeRo’s ban following his appeal. To celebrate the occasion, the content creator shared pictures of himself from the gym. Additionally, he has significantly changed his build since leaving the Smash Bros. scene.
