Everything you need to know about the Sand-Scarred Soul Event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its requirements, rewards, and more.
The Sand-Scarred Soul Event quest is now live in Monster Hunter Wilds, pitting you against a High Rank Doshaguma. Although the quest is available fairly early in High Rank, it’s arguably among the toughest Event quests that have been released so far, even surpassing the likes of Ballet in the Rain. However, despite the higher challenge, it’s an Event you don’t want to miss out on, due to the rewards it has to offer. Essentially, the Sand-Scarred Soul Event is one of the best ways in Monster Hunter Wilds to easily acquire a bunch of Armor Decorations. The Armor Decorations are otherwise only obtained via Investigations and Wyvern Melding in the High Rank’s endgame.

Requirements for Sand-Scarred Soul Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
To start the Sand-Scarred Soul Event quest, you need to reach Hunter Rank (HR) 9 or higher. Doing so isn’t particularly difficult as long as you’ve completed the entirety of Low Rank. Once you complete the Low Rank, you’re automatically boosted to HR 8. From there, you simply need to complete the first main story quest of High Rank, which requires you to hunt and capture a Yian Kut-Ku. Once you complete the Yian Kut-Ku quest, you’re boosted to Hunter Rank 9. After that, you can simply talk to Alma (the Handler) in one of the Base Camps or Pop-up Camps to accept the Event quest. If you’re already in High Rank’s endgame, you can simply talk to Alma to start the Event.
To summarize, here the are primary requirements for the Sand-Scarred Soul Event quest:
- Complete Low Rank.
- Reach a High Rank and complete the first main story quest.
- Talk to Alma after reaching HR 9, and accept the Event quest.
Do note that the Sand-Scarred Soul Event is only available till March 25, 2025.
Tips To Easily Complete Sand-Scarred Soul Event Quest
The Sand-Scarred Soul Event sees you hunt a High Rank Doshaguma. Although Doushaguma isn’t a particularly challenging monster, it certainly isn’t a cakewalk either. While the quest unlocks at HR 9, we highly recommend attempting the Event after you hit HR 21. That way, you will have more flexibility when it comes to tweaking your build and creating something that can go toe-to-toe with the Doshaguma. The Doshaguma is extremely weak to Fireblight. Furthermore, the monster is also very susceptible to Paralysis. As such, weapons from monsters like Lala Barina or Rathalos, work really great against the Fanged Beast.
Additionally, if you’re using a melee build, we highly recommend skills like Flayer, Partbreak, and Weakness Exploit. In the final stretch of the battle, the Doshaguma gets enraged, which results in multiple wounds automatically appearing on its limbs and back. Using Flayer and Weakness Exploit, you can capitalize on the wounds, dealing raw and elemental damage to the monster. The best weapons for use against Doshaguma are:
- Great Sword
- Long Sword
- Hammer
- Hunting Horn
- Switch Axe
- Dual Blades
- Bow
- Heavy Bowgun
Rewards for Completing the Sand-Scarred Soul Event Quest
For completing the Sand-Scarred Soul Event, you’re rewarded with a small bounty of Hard Armor Spheres and Armor Decorations. Do note that completing the quest only rewards you with Level 2 Armor Decorations. For Level 3, i.e., endgame Armor Decorations, you have to use endgame Tempered Investigations and Wyvern Melding.
