Here, you will be thrown into a long battle against the Ender Dragon and its many healing crystals. Once you defeat this boss, you will see the Dragon Egg spawn right above the exit portal.

How To Pick Up the Dragon Egg in Minecraft
You might have already tried to break the egg and found out that this method does not work. Breaking this item will simply make it teleport away to a nearby area. Thus, we need to resort to some unusual tactics.
The first method is to cover the portal and place a torch on the block next to the egg, and then push the item away from its pedestal using a piston. Since the egg is one of the few items that is affected by gravity, it will start to fall. If your placement is correct, it will fall onto the torch and instantly break.
You can now pick it up and do what you want with it. Alternatively, you could also break it once, letting it teleport away. Now, after finding it, dig below the spot where the egg is placed, and place a torch. Lastly, break the block separating the torch from the egg, and the same thing as last time will occur.
