Staying loyal to your tools that helped you through the hardest times in Minecraft is a great feeling. However, their durability can gradually wear off, leaving them weakened. You can repair your pre-existing tools if you don’t have enough materials to craft new ones.
Here is everything you need to know about how to repair your tools in Minecraft, what items are required, and if it affects the overall durability.
Repairing Tools in Minecraft
Multiple factors play a role while trying to repair your tools in Minecraft. You can repair nearly everything, from a simple pickaxe to the rare, end-game Elytra—if you do it correctly.
To repair your items, you will need an anvil. The anvil can be crafted via three blocks of Iron and four Iron Ingots. Craft a Block of Iron by filling all nine slots of the crafting table with Iron Ingots. Ultimately, you will have one Block of Iron. You’ll need 24 Iron Ingots to craft your anvil.
Once you have crafted the anvil, you can now repair your tools. Take your items with low durability to the anvil and place them in the left block. Place the crafting material in the right box.
If you have crafted a pickaxe with diamond, you need to place a diamond in the right box. Additionally, it will cost you the enchantment points you can gain by defeating the mobs throughout the world.
Here’s a detailed list of how the item ratio to repair works:
- 1 base material – 25% durability repair
- 2 base materials – 50% durability repair
- 3 base materials – 75% durability repair
- 4 base materials – 100% durability repair
For the Elytra, you can use the Phantom Membrane to repair it. Kill Phantoms to obtain a Phantom Membrane; these creatures appear after you avoid sleeping for three continuous days.
