How To Increase Maximum Armor in DOOM The Dark Ages

Your maximum armor limit can be permanently increased by defeating Demonic Leaders, specifically by gathering their Demonic Essence. The Leaders are a special type of demon variant that appears in every chapter. They reward Demonic Essence upon defeat, which permanently increases one of your three basic stats – Health, Armor, and Ammo capacity. To increase the maximum armor, focus on killing the Demonic Leaders with a green vest icon above their heads, which indicates they drop the Demonic Essence – Armor.

Chapter 16 The Kar’Thul Marshes	You will encounter the Demonic Leader near one of the Relic Fragments.
Chapter 18 Belly of the Beast	The combat encounter with the Leader triggers near the first tentacle connecting organ.
Chapter 20 Resurrection	Defeat the Leader near one of the Siege Towers.
