Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 8 sends the Slayer into a haunting woodland named Abyssal Forest. This area, just like most locations in the game, is teeming with demonic forces. After discovering Ahzrak’s goal of acquiring the Heart of Argent, the Slayer explores the forest to spoil the demon’s plans. As you explore the Abyssal Forest in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 8, you will stumble upon various secret areas that hold collectibles or resources. These range from useful items like gold and ruby to other items that unveil pieces of lore or a toy. Nonetheless, if you’re playing this chapter, you might as well collect them along the way. With that said, here is a guide on how you can collect all of it.

Where To Find All Collectibles in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 8 (Abyssal Forest)?
Toy
After surviving the Pinky Rider miniboss encounter, you need to do a bit of backtracking. Charge through the weak wall with your shield to uncover a hidden area. There should be an orange mechanism in there that you can break by using a shield throw. This will open up the gate where another blue mechanism is found. Shoot this too with your shield throw to finally open up the container where you can grab the Witch Toy.
Codex Entries
You can get this item by heading to a destructible wall of tree roots with a blue seal. Your shield charge attack should be able to break through the area. You should then find the codex inside.
Life Sigils
- Just around the starting point of the level, look to your right and find a hill. Head to that location and you should find a Life Sigil.
- Once you exit the previous secret, look for a crate. Use this crate to traverse the area until you see a Life Sigil. Simply use your shield toss to acquire it.
- The third Life Sigil is fairly easy to find. It is found just before the boss encounter for this level.
Weapon Skin
There are no obtainable weapon skins in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 8, Abyssal Forest.
Demonic Essence
Taking down the Pinky Rider miniboss rewards you with the Demonic Essence – Armor, boosting your armor efficiency. It’s a useful upgrade that pays off as you progress.

Resources in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 8 Abyssal Forest
There are a ton of resources you can find in Chapter 8 of Doom The Dark Ages.
Gold Trail and Caches
There are around 250 gold pieces you can find throughout the level:
- 5 Gold:
- Right at the start of the level, you will find gold trails on the ground. It’s somewhere near the path leading to the first Life Sigil.
- 4 Gold:
- Keep moving forward and find a broken bridge. You should see another gold trail on the left path.
- 10 Gold:
- Roughly 10 pieces of Gold are tucked away in a hidden cavern. To reach them, you’ll need to scale a climbable wall nestled in the cave.
- 50 Gold:
- Use your shield to access this section. Look for a ramp leading to more bramble. You can break these with your shield charge. Inside, you can find a gold cache.
- 50 Gold:
- Around the midpoint of Chapter 8, look for a statue suspended by a red chain. Throw your shield to break it and watch the statue crash down and make a massive hole. Jump to the hole and you should find another gold cache.
- 50 Gold:
- Another gold cache is located near the area where you get the Grenade Launcher. Head slightly down the path until you find a suspiciously green corpse. It’s located high up on the left wall. Use your shield throw to hit this corpse and jump across the gap. There should be a massive pile of gold waiting for you.
- 5 Gold:
- Follow the main path and you’ll come across these naturally on the way to the Forge. They’re hard to miss, so you should be able to find them easily.
Ruby Locations
- Ruby #1:
- Remember the area where you got 10 Gold Bars? There is another area you can access by using the jump pad, where you find a Ruby.
- Ruby #2:
- Another Ruby is found to the left of the main objective. Somewhere near the cannon you use to blow the wall, there should be some broken bridges. You can use them to reach an area where you can find a Ruby and around seven gold bars.
