Find out whether the Mega Cell or the Heatblast upgrade is better for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages.

In Doom The Dark Ages, you can unlock the full potential of any weapon after getting all of its upgrades. The Plasma Accelerator has two upgrade options at tier 3, named Heatblast and Mega Cell. Since you can only choose one, it’s crucial to understand which of them is better. In this guide, we’ll go through both these upgrades to gauge which of them you should pick for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages.
What Is the Heatblast Upgrade for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages?

The very first upgrade tier of the Accelerator lets the weapon build up charge slowly when firing at enemies. In its charged state, the Accelerator does more damage. The Heatblast upgrade allows you to fire one final devastating shot when the weapon is in its charged state. This shot will consume all of the remaining charge, but its damage is far greater than normal charged shots. Also, if you manage to kill any of the demons using this Heatblast shot, that demon will drop Accelerator ammo.

What Is the Mega Cell Upgrade for the Plasma Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages?

The second option in tier 3 for the weapon is Mega Cell. As the name suggests, this upgrade helps the Accelerator stay in its charged state for longer. That means you can keep inflicting greater damage to enemies for a longer period when compared to the normal charged timings.

Which Upgrade Should You Choose?
Both Mega Cell and Heatblast are worthwhile upgrades to have for the weapon. However, we feel that the Heatblast effect is slightly better because it can wreak havoc in the enemy ranks if you unleash the Heatblast shot at just the right time. With it installed, you can easily manage the endless waves of enemies that the game throws at you.
Mega Cell is a great upgrade, too, but if you’re looking to fire constant high-damage plasma shots, we’d recommend using the Cycler weapon instead. It can do that far better than the Accelerator, even with its Mega Cell upgrade.
