After the game’s success, both monetary and critical, is Schedule 1 available to play in Australia? Will players need a VPN to access it?

The gamers in Australia recently realized that they couldn’t find Schedule 1 anywhere on Steam. Unfortunately for them, that was the only platform it was available on. What is happening? Has the Australian government banned Schedule 1 in the island nation? The simple answer is no. However, the reason for Schedule 1’s lack of availability in Australia is slightly more complex than a small word.
Schedule 1 is a game that deals with drugs and other illegal acts. Now, carrying out such illegal activities in a video game doesn’t necessarily result in them disappearing from online platforms. Take Grand Theft Auto, for example. The primary problem lies with the fact that Schedule 1 does not provide an “official” age rating. The Australian Classification Board grants the games this age rating. Since the law surrounding it is strict, Schedule 1 got shadow banned on Steam in Australia.
When Will Schedule 1 Return in Australia?
Tyler, the indie dev who worked on Schedule 1 and all its updates, recently took to X to explain the Schedule 1 blackout on Steam in Australia. He confessed that he didn’t get an age classification for his game because he thought it was only necessary for console and physical releases. However, he also went on to assure the Australian player base that the game will be back soon!
To anyone in Australia, you might’ve noticed Schedule I is hidden on Steam. Don’t worry, the game hasn’t been banned, but it turns out all games sold in Australia need to receive a classification/age rating (I thought this was only required for console and physical releases 😅).…

The dev behind Schedule 1 believes that the game will most likely come back with an 18+ age rating. This is due to the themes that the games explore: violence and substances. If it ends up becoming an 18+ game, underage players in Australia who have already bought the game might face some difficulties running it. For any further information regarding the topic, we will have to wait.
But one thing is for certain, Schedule 1 is not banned and will most probably return with a new age rating on Steam. Stay tuned so we can keep you covered with any other major updates regarding the game’s availability and future updates.
