In this guide, we shall go over the best tips to build your Starter Base in Dune Awakening, so you can improve its look and efficiency.

Dune Awakening throws you into the hostile (yet iconic) lands of Arrakis. The game leaves you on your own to fend for yourself, all while navigating the Atreides/Harkonnen conflict, as well as the natural dangers of the desert. You travel back and forth across the desert, completing contracts and quests along the way.
Just when survival starts to get difficult, the game introduces you to a base-building mechanic. You get to build your own Starter Base in the game, where you can install a garage for vehicles, machinery for crafting, and so much more. While the game does a good job of introducing the base-building mechanics and instilling the importance of a base, the abundance of information can lead to confusion.
Even if you do understand the mechanics, the game still keeps important bits away from you. It does not tell you what terrain to build the base on, what location to pick, how to demolish or move the base, and so much more. There are quite a few tips and tricks that can improve the efficiency of your Starter Base, and we’re here to share them.

Watch For the Sandworms

While the game does teach you how to build a base, it does not go into any detail about where to set up. The desert is a vast open space, and while it may all seem like free real estate at a glance, you’d be unwise to ignore the sandworms underneath. The sandworms are a legitimate threat that can pop out of the ground at any given time. To avoid these worms, we recommend building your base close to the rocks.
Use the Rotate and Height Feature
While most base-building games feature polygonal shapes for their surfaces, Dune Awakening has a surprising number of curved surfaces on offer. The game allows you to design a perfectly personalized base with the surfaces on offer, and you can enhance it by rotating and changing height as you see fit.
You can rotate surfaces by holding the Alt key and then moving the mouse wheel. To change height, hold the Ctrl key and turn the mouse wheel. Using these features will allow you to design the base as you need.

Place Your Base Strategically

The lands of Arrakis are vast, and you’ll constantly be travelling back and forth for quests and contracts. Keeping this in mind, we recommend planting your base next to Imperial Stations, Camps, or the Wreck of Alcyon. These locations all deliver resources, which you can keep farming for a smooth crafting experience.
You’ll collect resources from these areas, return to base to use the Fabricator or other machinery, and then go back for more resources. Staying in close proximity to these areas will save you a ton of time in the long run.
