Let’s take a look at the possibilities of whether Kojima Productions’ upcoming title, Death Stranding 2, will be released on Xbox.

Kojima Productions dropped a trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, revealing its release date on June 26, 2025, for the PlayStation 5 console. The game is a sequel to the award-winning title Death Stranding. Needless to say, a lot of fans from different gaming platforms have been looking forward to the sequel.
Unfortunately, the game is only confirmed for release on PS5 and not other platforms like PC or Xbox. This means you will need to own Sony’s flagship console if you want to play the game on release day. However, that doesn’t mean the game will forever be locked behind exclusivity.

Will Death Stranding 2 Release on Xbox and PC?

For now, there are no confirmations from Kojima Productions if the game will arrive on Xbox consoles like the Series X/S or PC. Reports indicate that the game will release exclusively for PS5. However, there is a silver lining that players can hold on to.
PC Port for Death Stranding 2
The first chapter of the story, Death Stranding, also started as an exclusive title, but for the PS4 console back in November 2019. However, it eventually dropped on PC nine months after the game was released as a PlayStation exclusive. With the help of the game publisher 505 Games, the title reached a wider platform, releasing its Director’s Cut edition to apply to devices in January 2024. If the formula sticks, we can expect a PC port of Death Stranding 2 sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.

Possible Xbox Release Date for Death Stranding 2
As for the Xbox console, possibly the Series X/S, it might take a bit longer. The original game arrived on Microsoft’s flagship console in November 2024. That’s around five years since its release on PS4. If we follow the pattern, we could see Death Stranding 2 in about three to five years. Possibly, Kojima Productions will cook up a Director’s Cut for the sequel, which may arrive on multiple platforms.
If we’re lucky, we may see Death Stranding 2 on Game Pass, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and perhaps Xbox platforms. It’s not really a guarantee that this will happen. Given the positive reception of the first one, even after losing its exclusivity, the sequel may also receive the same treatment in the future. We’ll just have to wait for more updates regarding the future of this title.
