Hideo Kojima has revealed the release date for the highly anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to his 2019 hit title.

The release date for Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was unveiled during the SXSW 2025 Special Panel. Hideo Kojima took the stage at SXSW 2025 and revealed that the game will be released on June 26, 2025, for PS5, alongside a special 10-minute pre-order trailer. He also shared information about the available editions.
The trailer showcases the aftermath of connecting the UCA Chiral Networks, following the events of Death Stranding (2019). It features the franchise’s main characters, Sam Porter Bridges, Fragile, and Higgs, while introducing new characters like Tomorrow, Rainy, and Neil. Viewers also see a special cameo by Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee). Additionally, the trailer highlights new locations and more formidable threats, like giant BTs and Entities.
Death Stranding 2 Releases in June 2025 for PS5
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to the 2019 postapocalyptic action-adventure title, is set to launch on PS5 on June 26, 2025. The original Death Stranding released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, while the Windows and Xbox versions launched later in 2020 and 2024, respectively. It is expected that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will likely follow a similar approach for other platforms ports.
Additionally, Kojima Productions announced a special concert tour series titled “Strands of Harmony”, which will commence on November 8, 2025.
Death Stranding 2 Pre-Order Bonus
Death Stranding 2 will be available in three different editions – Collector’s Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Digital Standard Edition. Notably, the Collector’s Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition will grant a 48-hour early access to the full game, allowing players to explore the stranded United Cities of America two days ahead of the launch.
Pre-orders for Death Stranding 2 start on March 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (local time). Pre-ordering any of the three editions grants the following rewards:

- Boost Skeleton: Silver (LV1, LV2, LV3)

Death Stranding (2019) explored the significance of connecting the Chiral network. The tagline featured on the Death Stranding 2 pre-order title reads, “We Should Not Have Connected.” Fans are already speculating about what that could mean.
