In this guide, we’ll explore whether you can ever go back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2. The game’s prologue takes place there.

Death Stranding 2’s story sees Sam venturing to Mexico and Australia, trying to bring as many of the areas in these two regions as possible under the umbrella of the Chiral Network. The game’s prologue section takes place in Mexico, and by the end of this portion, you’ll say goodbye to the location and head toward Australia. This has caused panic among some fans, who are wondering whether they can ever revisit Mexico in search of lost loot or activities.
The good news is that you can travel back to Mexico at any point in the game. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can go back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2.
How To Go Back To Mexico in Death Stranding 2

The good news is that you can head back to the starting location anytime after reaching Australia. To reach Mexico, simply go to the southwestern corner of the Australia map. Here, you will find the Australia Plate Gate, where the game begins after you’ve completed the prologue section. Cross over to the other side of the Australia Plate Gate to reach the Mexico Plate Gate.
Once you reach Mexico, you can explore the map, connect with any of the Preppers on this map, and complete orders. However, at this point in the game, you won’t be able to fast travel to Mexico from the Australia map. So, every time you want to visit Mexico, you will have to manually reach the Australia Plate Gate and then cross over.

How To Unlock Fast Travel To Mexico

You will have to first complete Order No. 12 before you can begin fast traveling to Mexico. After this order, you get access to the DHV Magellan, which can take you from Australia to Mexico and vice versa. To do this, simply follow the steps mentioned below:
- Step 1: Open your map using Options.
- Step 2: Hold X to begin charting a course with the Magellan.
- Step 3: While holding down X, press L1 to switch to the Australia or Mexico map.
- Step 4: Select any of the destinations that are part of the Chiral Network to fly there on the DHV Magellan.
Keep in mind that you have to be on the DHV Magellan to fast travel to any of the selected spots. If you follow the steps without being physically on the Magellan, the ship will fly to the location by itself, leaving you behind.
