Similar to the first game, Death Stranding 2 requires you to traverse different terrains and deliver cargos to the facilities. Navigating the rough and harsh terrain while carrying heavy loads is no easy task. Moreover, you will also encounter shallow rivers, massive mountains, and dangerous BTs and MULEs along the way, making your journey more challenging. Sam becomes exhausted when performing strenuous activities such as climbing, running, or crossing rivers.

Resting is an important aspect of the game, as it restores stamina and blood levels. If you are unsure how to rest in Death Stranding 2, this guide will walk you through the process.

Sam can rest in two different ways: inside the Private Room or out in the wild. Resting in the Private Room is straightforward. All you need to do is enter the Private Room and sleep, which restores your stamina and blood levels. Resting in the Private Room, also restock your ammo. These rooms are typically found in larger facilities, distribution centers, or DHV Magellan. To access a Private Room, enter the facility and stand on the elevator circle, then hold the Square button.

Besides the Private Rooms, you can also make Sam rest outside in the wild on the go. You can rest at almost any location, though make sure you are not engaged in combat and are staying away from BT areas. Hold Square once you are in a safe spot. This will make Sam sit and rest, gradually restoring stamina.

While resting, you will also receive several options such as standing, sleeping, and massaging your shoulders. Choosing the sleep option makes Sam close his eyes and take a nap, which restores blood levels along with stamina. Sam will also fall asleep if you leave him idle for a long time while sitting.

Choosing the massage shoulder option performs a unique animation where Sam massages his shoulders and legs, gaining relief from his strenuous work. This animation adds a touch of realism to Sam, reflecting his physical exhaustion.
