As you progress through the story, Sam will take an order that involves repairing a mine. Complete the order, and you can return to the area anytime to trade Chiral Crystals for Special Alloys. It is a safer method to farm this rare resource in exchange for Chiral Crystals, a much easier resource to collect. You can farm Chiral Crystals from defeated Beached Things or by exploring.
The maximum amount of Chiral Crystals you can exchange in a single transaction is equivalent to 480 kg. Alternatively, you can rely on your fellow porters by opening shared storage lockers to find more materials. You can head to the Savanna Mine; it is a small area that is a goldmine for this resource and is found between Brigand camps.
