Hades 2: How To Get The True Ending

Hades 2 has quite a few endings that bring a conclusion to the story of Melinoe, but only one of them is the True Ending. With the release of version 1.0, you can now finally get all the items needed to complete Melinoe’s true goal, which is to bring an end to the Titan of Time Chronos. Obtaining the True Ending does require a significant amount of time and skill, but the result is worth it for both new and experienced players.

To help you out, here’s how to obtain the True Ending of Hades 2.

Defeat Chronos in Hades 2

To start the process of True Ending in Hades 2, you have to first defeat Chronos in the Underworld. Defeating him grants you the Z-Sand item and the Dissolution of Time incantation. Note that defeating Chronos does not kill him, as he regenerates and can be challenged again another night.

You have to defeat Chronos a total of six times to obtain the total number of Z-Sands required for the incantations. For now, you won’t be able to complete the Dissolution of Time incantation, as it requires a second unknown ingredient other than the five Z-Sand.

Defeat Typhon in Hades 2

To obtain the second ingredient, you have to defeat Typhon, the Father of all Monsters. He is the final boss in the Overworld pathing, which is the surface. Defeating him grants you the V-Lens item and the Disintegration of Monstrosity incantation. Here’s the recipe for it:

1x Z-Sand
4x V-Lens
1x Gigaros

You can obtain Gigaros by defeating Chronos and visiting a room underneath the arena in the House of Hades. Sleep on the bed and interact with the mirror in the room to enter the dream realm. Doing so allows you to communicate with a past version of Zagreus in his dreams. Talking to him five times grants you Gigaros, the spear of Hades.

Complete the Disintegration of Monstrosity incantation in the Crossroads cauldron and defeat Typhon for the last time to obtain Entropy. It is the final ingredient in the Dissolution of Time incantation, which you can finish now.

Obtain the True Ending in Hades 2

After you complete the Dissolution of Time incantation, you have to defeat Chronos for the last time and talk to Zagreus the same way as before. In his dream, Melinoe uses the incantation on Zagreus’s version of Gigaros, which will allow him to kill Chronos before everything happens in the future.

However, in true Zagreus fashion, he instead convinces Chronos to give up his plans and return to the House of Hades to live without conflict. This causes the present Chronos to gain new memories of a time when he lived happily and watched Melinoe grow up. Moreover, this causes him to release everyone, which eventually leads to the conclusion of the True Ending of Hades 2.
