Ghost of Yotei adopts non-linear storytelling, giving you freedom to approach and hunt the Yotei Six in any way you like.
Ghost of Yotei’s Yotei Six are shadowy figures from Atsu’s past that have tragically shaped her present. As Atsu, you have to hunt and assassinate all the Yotei Six for what they did to you, and there is no fixed order for doing so. The game gives you a lot of freedom in your pursuit of revenge, and you may wonder if there’s a best order you can follow to fight the Yotei Six.
Unfortunately, there’s no such order when pursuing the Yotei Six. The order you pursue them in doesn’t really make a difference in terms of mechanical progression.
There Is No Best Order To Fight the Yotei Six

As stated earlier, there is no correct or best order to take on the Yotei Six in Ghost of Yotei. When you start on your journey in the shoes of Atsu, events lead you into a showdown with the Snake, the first member of the Yotei Six. This is a compulsory showdown, and you can’t fight any other member first.
Once you’re done with the Snake, the story opens up non-linearly. You then have the option to pursue Kitsune or Oni. After this, your next target is the brothers, and then circling back to where it all began with Saito at the end.

For A Greater Story Impact

While the game is designed with a non-linear approach in mind, and there’s no best order as we discussed, we believe pursuing the Kitsune first is the way to go for a slow-burning story. Once you pursue the Kitsune and then move to the Oni in Ishikari Plains, you’re given a big reveal that reshapes the events of the story.
Pursuing Kitsune first allowed the story to breathe better, which then made way for the big reveal in Ishikari Plains to have a greater impact. We suggest following this route for maximum story impact. This only affects the emotional impact of the story. There are no gameplay benefits to following this path, and you could perhaps feel the impact the same way in any order. It all boils down to whether you prefer more of a slow burn in your story or wish to move from moment to moment.
