Ghost of Yotei: Soul of an Instrument

This Ghost of Yotei guide will walk you through the ‘Soul of an Instrument’ side quest found in the Tokashi Range.

Ghost of Yotei’s action-packed story can be quite intense at times, but the game smartly uses its side quests, notably the Soul of an Instrument quest, to balance out the intensity. This side quest focuses on music and how it travels from region to region and shapes itself according to the customs of the land.

The Soul of an Instrument quest is fairly simple, but requires you to make a fairly challenging climb. If this climb, or perhaps any other part of the quest, is giving you any trouble, this guide is here to walk you through it.

How To Begin Soul of an Instrument in Ghost of Yotei

You begin this quest by visiting the Ainu Musician’s Camp at Yubari Lake in the Tokachi Range. As you approach this camp, the Ainu Musician will spot you coming. Moreover, he will spot the musical instrument you’re carrying, using it as a talking point to kick off a conversation.

He’s currently working on building a musical instrument, but he doesn’t have the resources needed to do so. He needs your help in finding a smooth stone from a nearby mountain and, in return, promises to play and teach you a song.

How To Complete Soul of an Instrument in Ghost of Yotei

You have to find a smooth stone for the musician. He marks the location on your map for you, so simply follow the marker to reach the objective marker. Once you do, it may seem like a dead end. Look up, and you’ll find climbable ledges on the mountain surface.

Scale the ledges and climb to the upper level. Then, look to your left and you’ll see a slope heading down. Jump over this slope and onto the platform ahead. Climb the ledges by this platform and continue your ascent. Head all the way up and you’ll find the Mountain Pool, a pond.

Kill the guards by the pond and swim to the small chunk of land at the other end of the pond to find the smooth stone. Return to the musician and hand over the stone to complete this side quest.
