Learn how to find and use Oni Raider Mask Pieces in Ghost of Yotei for weapon and armour upgrades through farming.

Upgrading your weapons and armour in Ghost of Yotei takes more than just story progress; it takes resources that don’t exactly fall into your lap. One of those tricky ones is the Oni Raider Mask Piece.
Oni Raider Mask Pieces are pieces of the fearsome masks worn by the Oni Raiders you fight in the northern parts of the game. These are uncommon crafting materials meant mainly for mid-tier upgrades, so you will need quite a few before your weapons and armour start hitting harder.
You can’t buy these from any merchant or trader, which makes them even more valuable. The only way to get them is by defeating the Oni Raiders themselves. Your first few pieces drop during The Road to Ishikari Plain quest. After that, the hunt begins in earnest once the Ishikari Plain region opens up.
In this article, we will explore how to get Oni Raider Mask Pieces in Ghost of Yotei.
Where To Get the Oni Raider Mask Pieces in Ghost of Yotei?
You will first come across Oni Raiders during the main quest, The Road to Ishikari Plain. They appear at the Golden Foothills checkpoint and drop your first few mask pieces.
The Ishikari Plain region unlocks after that same quest, and this snowy northern stretch becomes your best bet to farm Oni Raider Mask Pieces. It’s packed with Oni Raider camps, which makes it easy to find consistent fights. Clear each camp, collect your drops, and restart from the last checkpoint to build up materials fast.
Some of the most active spots are Nishin Fishery, Bold Kaji Forge, Oni’s Breath Inn, Jigoku Fortress, and Ishikari Castle. Each location features multiple Oni Raiders, so you will rarely walk away empty-handed.
On the other hand, Esiacara Plains is a solid choice as a slightly different route. The area is full of camps, fox dens, and even wolf dens; perfect places for Oni Raider ambushes.
Keep in mind, Oni Raiders don’t always drop pieces after every fight. But because they spawn often, you will still build up a decent supply if you clear camps back-to-back.
How To Use the Oni Raider Mask Pieces in Ghost of Yotei

Once you have stacked enough Oni Raider Mask Pieces, it’s time to put them to work. These pieces are a must-have for strengthening your katanas. The Wolf Blade Katana’s second upgrade, for example, needs 20 mask pieces along with 20 units of metal. Meanwhile, the Dual Katana upgrade takes around 15 mask pieces and 20 Shinobi Steel. You will notice an increase in both attack power and overall handling once the upgrades are done.
Your armour also benefits from these pieces. Sets like the Armor of the Undying need about 30 mask pieces for their third upgrade, and most others sit somewhere between 15 and 30.
If you want to speed up your farming, try equipping Kanemori’s Two-Faced Mask. It boosts your damage output, though it also makes you more fragile, so play smart. Post-story, Ishikari Plain stays the best place to keep farming, but if you are looking for variety, Benten Port on Oshima Coast also has recurring enemy spawns that drop the same material.
