Ghost of Yotei: A Brokered Trust Walkthrough

Kojiro is a problematic man in Ghost of Yotei, but his problems finally come back to bite him in the “A Brokered Trust” quest of the game. Finally fed up with Kojiro’s antics, someone has put a bounty on him. Kojiro needs help finding the culprit, but to do so, he has to fake his own capture.

The ‘A Brokered Trust’ quest is one of the more exciting quests in the game and one that dives deep into the sly fox characteristics of Kojiro. If this quest is giving you any trouble, our guide is here to walk you through it.

How To Begin A Brokered Trust in Ghost of Yotei

You begin A Brokered Trust by talking to Kojiro at the bounty board in Matsumae Residences. Head to the bounty board, and Kojiro will call out to you. There’s a bounty on Kojiro’s head, but he has a plan to bypass this bounty once and for all. Kojiro plans to get caught intentionally, and he needs your help in killing whoever comes in to claim the bounty. The task is fairly simple, so click on the “Accept Job” button to proceed and begin the quest.

How To Complete A Brokered Trust in Ghost of Yotei

Once the quest begins, your goal is to meet Kojiro at the Matsumae docks, where you’ll then pretend to capture him. Head to the docks and towards the objective marker. You’ll stumble upon a bounty poster with Kojiro’s face on it. Interact with this poster and select the “Wait for Kojiro” option.

Some time will pass, and Kojiro will then begin to stage his grand “escape.” But before he can do so, a group of Ronin interrupts and surrounds him. These Ronin are here to claim the bounty, and when you contest, they try to kill you. Fight and kill all the Ronin bounty hunters. Once the coast is clear, walk over to Kojiro and press R2 to “capture” him. Kojiro will then put on a performance of a lifetime and mount his horse. Follow Kojiro to the bounty drop-off point, and your trip will be cut short by more bounty hunters. Kill these bounty hunters and resume your trip to the drop-off point.

Once you reach the drop-off, you’ll find the area empty. As you investigate, you’ll then be ambushed by bounty hunters. Fend off the ambush, and you’ll then have to fight off a few waves of bounty hunters. Once all lie dead before you, Kojiro will then reveal that he put the bounty on himself to root out potential backstabbers. He’ll then give you advice to watch your back from backstabbers, bringing the quest to an end.
