Learn how to complete Broken Horn Garrison in Ghost of Yotei, free Sanji, defeat Oni Raiders, and earn the Charm of the Blind Drunk.
You will come across Broken Horn Garrison in the Ishikari Plain in Ghost of Yotei. This area is both a Yotei Six Camp and a key side tale, playing a big role in your fight to free the land from the Oni Raiders. It’s part of the wider campaign to weaken the Yotei Six’s control.
You can find the garrison perched on a cliff west of Ishikari Market, near the Howling Cove area on the western coast. Sometimes you will discover it by simply moving close to it during free exploration, and it can also be unlocked through Ran the Bowyer during “The Oni” main tale or after completing “The Yari’s Fury” sensei tale. This mission appears in Chapter 1, The Lone Wolf, once you reach Ishikari Plain.
How To Start Broken Horn Garrison in Ghost of Yotei
To start this tale, talk to Ran the Bowyer in Ishikari Market. She’ll tell you that her friend Sanji has been captured by Oni Raiders and taken to the Broken Horn Garrison. That’s your cue to head west toward the cliffs overlooking Howling Cove.
If you have already finished The Yari’s Fury, the mission may appear automatically when you approach the area. As you move closer, you will notice red banners and a heavily guarded camp. That’s your visual signal that you have reached the right spot.
You can also stumble upon the garrison naturally if you are exploring on your own. Once it’s discovered, it becomes available on your map, and it gets added to your list of Yotei Six Camps to liberate.
Steps To Finish Broken Horn Garrison in Ghost of Yotei

This mission gives you three objectives: find the prisoner, release him, and eliminate all of Saito’s soldiers. You will have several ways to handle the situation depending on your playstyle. You are looking for Sanji, who’s locked up in the center of the garrison, right behind a set of red towels. An archer guards his position, so you will want to be cautious as you approach. If you move close enough, you will overhear the guards questioning Sanji about Sensei Takahashi’s recruits, which confirms you are near. You can handle the rescue quietly or go in swinging.
For a stealth approach, move in from the north side and clear out the stables first. Stick to the tall grass for cover and use sake jars to distract enemies. Taking them out one by one before reaching Sanji makes things easier. If you would rather fight openly, you can charge through the front gate and take down the first wave of Oni Raiders.
Once the path is clear, free Sanji from his bonds. As soon as he’s released, he’ll grab a weapon and join you in combat. With Sanji free, your next task is to take out every last Raider in the garrison. You will face standard soldiers, archers placed on elevated points, and even a few brutes or leaders. Take out the archers first to avoid being pinned down. After every enemy falls, the camp is liberated, and villagers will soon return to reclaim it.
Once the fight is over, check the camp for an Altar of Reflection. This altar becomes available after liberation and lets you learn new techniques or spend skill points before leaving the area.
Broken Horn Garrison Mission Rewards

Your main prize for completing this tale is the Charm of the Blind Drunk. It’s a Minor Stealth Charm that gives you a +5 Stealth bonus and adds a handy perk. When you throw a sake jar at an enemy, it briefly blinds them. This gives you time to move in for a stealth kill or slip away unnoticed.
There’s also a Lord Saito Missive you can collect from a reward cache near the southern entrance after liberation. Picking it up adds extra background about Saito’s forces.
