This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough guide will take you through The Worth of a Blade side quest, an ominous tale involving Atsu’s blade.
Atsu’s blade is one tied to her quest for vengeance in Ghost of Yotei, but what is the blade really worth? This is a question the game’s Worth of a Blade quest seeks to answer by revealing the blade’s bloody future. Something ominous lies in wait for Atsu and her blade, and completing this quest leads you to the answer.
Finding and beginning this quest, however, is a difficult task as there are no markers. Our guide will walk you through how to start the quest, and will then take you all the way to the end.
How To Begin The Worth of a Blade in Ghost of Yotei
You begin The Worth of a Blade quest by completing the Hakodake Bamboo Strike activity east of Hakodake Mountains. Walk up to the bamboo and finish slicing through it. Just as you strike through the last bit of bamboo, a woman will appear behind you, claiming that she can see your future.
The woman is a kenso practitioner and will reveal your future for a few mon. Pay the woman her ask of 200 mon to accept the offer. Then, press R2 and Square to switch over to your katana and pull it out to show it to the blade and begin the quest.

How To Complete The Worth of a Blade in Ghost of Yotei

Studying your blade, the woman will reveal that the blade has blood, anger, and despair in its future. Above all, however, the blade calls for peace. The woman will then warn you that a man seeks to take the blade from you, from where “fire burns under ashen trees,” north of the Sentinel Forest.
Head to the marked location in the Sentinel Forest, and make your way through to the center. You’ll see smoke tear through the air, signalling the presence of a campfire. Head towards the smoke and you’ll find a man sitting beside the fire.
Upon spotting you, the man will immediately compliment your sword. Talk to the man and he’ll reveal that he has a job for you. The target is Thousand Blades Toramasa, a man who kills Ronin for their swords. Then, select the “I was warned about you” option, and the man will panic and run off.
Run after the man, and he’ll reveal himself to be Thousand Blades Toramasa. He has set up an ambush for you. Kill his Ronin friends, and Toramasa will confess that he was seeking the sword to sell for a good price. You’ll then let him live, bringing the quest to an end.
