This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough guide will take you through the ‘Every Man for Himself’ side quest in the game.
The world of Ghost of Yotei is filled to the brim with secrets for you to find, but not every discovery you make is pleasant, as evident in the ‘Every Man for Himself’ quest. In this quest, you find yourself walking into one of the worst ambushes imaginable. There’s a cloud of smoke blocking your vision, and some rifleman is raining down hell from behind the smoke screen.
The only way to survive is to face hell itself and find the rifleman, making this one of the hardest quests in the game. If the ‘Every Man for Himself’ quest is giving you any sort of trouble, this guide will walk you through it.
How To Begin Every Man for Himself in Ghost of Yotei
You begin Every Man for Himself by visiting the Ishiusu Basin. As you go about riding into this area on your horse, you’ll be shot from a distance and fall off your horse. A little further up, you’ll spot a man hiding by a rock. Walk up to him, and you’ll see that he’s been shot, too. He’ll cry out to you, stating that he can’t walk and needs help. Finish your conversation with him to begin the quest.

How To Complete Every Man for Himself in Ghost of Yotei

The shots are coming from uphill, and the wounded man warns that there are quite a few people up there. The view uphill is blocked by a cloud of smoke, so you can’t really hope to fight from a distance. Pick up the sword by the wounded man, and head uphill from the right.
Move from rock to rock, using each one as cover. As you go a bit further up, you’ll spot a few enemies hiding behind the rock. Kill all of these enemies, but be wary of the rifleman up top. Fight them off, but do not stay still. Stay moving to avoid the shots. Once they’re dead, stick to the right and continue uphill.
All the way up, you’ll find an enemy encampment with the rifleman standing guard. Kill all the enemies around him and finish him off when he’s alone. Kill him and examine his body. While you’re doing so, the wounded man from earlier will reappear, now in perfect health. He’ll reveal that he was never injured and only needed help getting rid of these men to acquire their loot. He’ll then split the loot with you, bringing the quest to a close.
