This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough guide will take you through the Desperate Remedy side quest from start to finish.
Ghost of Yotei’s Desperate Remedy quest throws you into a tricky situation: there are a few wounded samurai who need your help getting medicine, but helping them means earning the ire of Saito Outlaws and other would-be bounty hunters. Leaving them be, however, means their demise, so you have no choice but to help the samurai.
While the task of retrieving the medicine seems simple enough, it is anything but, as you’ll find out while playing the quest. If you’re having any trouble with this quest, our guide will walk you through the Desperate Remedy from start to finish.
How To Begin Desperate Remedy in Ghost of Yotei
You begin this quest by talking to a Matsumae soldier inside a cave in Moiwa Grotto, Tokachi Range. This location is directly east of Huranui’s Rest Inn. As you approach this area, you’ll find two large rocks with a log above them. Pass under this log and you’ll see a small gap you can squeeze through.
Pass through the gap to enter a cave, and you’ll hear a Matsumae soldier speaking in a hush tone. Follow the sound and you’ll see that the soldier is treating to another’s wounds. Talk to this man and he’ll reveal that the two were on patrol when they were ambushed, forcing them to retreat into this cave. The other soldier’s wounds are now festering, and he desperately needs medicine. Accept the request and wrap up this conversation to begin the quest.

How To Complete Desperate Remedy in Ghost of Yotei

The Matsumae soldiers told you that you could find medicine in an inn nearby, so that’s where you need to go. Head out of the cave and towards Huranui’s Rest Inn to the west. Enter the inn and you’ll find the innkeeper talking to a Ronin. This Ronin is looking for two men–samurai, and his description suspiciously matches that of the two men in the cave.
Once the Ronin leaves, talk to the innkeeper and ask him for herbs. The man will immediately read into your request, advising you to be discreet while going back to the samurai. Right as you head back to the samurai and reach the cave entrance, the Ronin will catch on to you.
The man will threaten to fight, so fight you must. Defeat the ronin, which is fairly easy since he is a standard enemy. He’ll then beg for mercy and reveal he was only hunting so he could get money for food. Spare the ronin and give the medicine to the samurai to complete the quest.
