This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough guide will take you through the Protecting the Peace mission, a side quest in the game.
Ghost of Yotei’s Protecting the Peace side quest gives you a glimpse at how Ezo has become a low-trust society. Major factions are at war, and everyone is trying to take advantage of the other to come out on top. This quest puts you in a situation where you get to experience the treachy first-hand, forcing you to fend off a betrayal and Saito Outlaws.
Protecting the Peace is a fairly short quest, but finding it can be a fair bit challenging. If you’re struggling to find and start this quest, or simply need help playing through and getting over the finish line, this guide will be of help.
How To Begin Protecting the Peace in Ghost of Yotei
You begin the Protecting the Peace quest by talking to a settler in a Settler’s Camp in Tokachi Range, directly southwest of Huranui’s Rest Inn. As you head southwest from the inn, you’ll notice a trail of smoke in the middle of the field. This is a settler’s camp.
Head to the camp and you’ll find a woman and her husband sitting by the campfire. The woman will call out to you. Walk up to her and press R2 to talk. She will reveal that bandits have been pestering her, stealing her supplies every night. She wants you to watch over her camp to ensure that doesn’t happen, and will pay you anything you ask. Select the “Accept Job” option to kick off this quest.

How To Complete Protecting the Peace in Ghost of Yotei

Once the conversation with the settler wraps up, you’ll learn that she has also hired a Ronin for the job. You’re supposed to partner up with this man, and after some bickering, he reluctantly agrees to the idea.
As you sit by the campfire holding guard, the Ronin will reveal that he has a few friends coming in to take the supplies over to Lord Saito. He wants you to look the other way, but there’s no way you’ll allow this to happen. The man will force you to stand up slowly, but you’ll have a quick prompt to assassinate before he attacks. Press triangle and quickly kill him.
The couple will wake up after the commotion, and the Saito Outlaws will follow shortly after to attack the camp. Protect the supplies and kill all the outlaws to complete the quest and earn 450 Coins as a reward.
