Turtle Man Kamekichi in Ghost of Yotei is a bounty that appears in the northeastern part of Ishikari Plain. It is tied to the Ishikari Market Bounty Board, where Kojiro the Bounty Broker manages the postings. You can only find this bounty after you have cleared a few others in the same region.
If you do not see it at first, just travel to another area and return later. The board refreshes often. The quest is marked as low difficulty because you will not fight Kamekichi himself. Instead, you will meet him in a cave after he has already suffered a fatal injury.
How To Find Turtle Man Kamekichi Bounty in Ghost of Yotei
Start at Ishikari Market and collect the bounty from the board or by speaking to Kojiro. Once you accept it, a new marker appears on your map pointing toward the northeastern area near Nakagoya Spring.
The guiding wind will lead you there. Once you reach the spring, move east along the river until you find the Abandoned Fishing Camp. Look for yellow flowers near the water as your landmark. Once you are there, you need to examine three clues to move forward:
- A meal preparation spot showing someone was fishing before being interrupted.
- A campfire that looks ready to cook food but was abandoned suddenly.
- Fire arrows were scattered near the camp.
After checking all three, you conclude that the raiders forced someone to flee uphill. Follow the trail of fire arrows leading north. They guide you to Nohoro Cave, hidden in the White Deer Woodlands area near the river. As you approach, you will hear Oni Raiders yelling threats toward Kamekichi.
What To Expect During the Cave Encounter?
Before you enter the cave, defeat the group of Oni Raiders who guard it. They are standard enemies and do not have special abilities, so this part should not take long. Once you defeat them, head inside the cave. Inside, you will find Kamekichi leaning against a rock, already wounded.
He will tell you that he used to be a samurai and that he was attacked by raiders while he was fishing. He has no strength left to fight and does not resist. Instead, he asks you to share a meal with him. Light the campfire and prepare some salmon using the cooking system. You must tilt your controller to adjust how close the salmon is to the fire and flip it using the Circle button. The process takes a few seconds, and you can skip it if you have the quick camp option enabled in the settings.
As the food cooks, the two of you start talking. Kamekichi speaks about how bounty hunting changes a person and how killing becomes too easy once you start justifying it. He questions whether you truly know who you are when the fight ends. The entire moment is quiet and heavy, a reminder of what a life built on violence can turn into. Once the meal ends, Kamekichi passes away peacefully from his wounds. You then take Turtle Man Kamekichi’s Mask from his body as proof for Kojiro. There is no combat or moral choice here. Just a final moment of reflection.
What Rewards Do You Get after Turtle Man Kamekichi Bounty in Ghost of Yotei?
Once you collect the mask, fast travel back to Ishikari Market. Speak to Kojiro to turn in the bounty. You will receive 750 coins and Turtle Man Kamekichi’s Mask, which is a vanity cosmetic you can wear to change your character’s look. Once you complete this bounty, it also adds progress toward the Master Bounty Hunter trophy.
