This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough will take you through the Smiling Yoshimoto bounty, one of the harder bounties in the game.
Smiling Yoshimoto is one of the most terrifying criminals in Ghost of Yotei’s Yotei Grasslands. This man lures in travelers by offering comfort. When the travelers take the bait, he strikes them down in cold blood. Tales of the man suggest that he does so while smiling, and the thought of this very smile now strikes terror in the heart of travellers.
Now, there’s a bounty on the Smiling Yoshimoto’s head. It is now your job to find this man and take him down for good. Beware that the task is not easy, and Yoshimoto is certainly not one to underestimate. This guide will walk you through this bounty from start to finish.
How To Begin Smiling Yoshimoto Bounty in Ghost of Yotei
You can acquire the Smiling Yoshimoto bounty from the bounty board outside Yotei’s Shadow Inn in the Yotei Grasslands. Fast travel to the Yotei’s Shadow Inn and make your way to the bounty board. You’ll find Kojiro sitting right next to this board. Press R2 to interact with the board, and you can then select from a list of bounties. Pick the poster with the ominous-looking man wearing a hat and sporting an evil smile. This is Smiling Yoshimoto’s bounty poster.

How To Complete Smiling Yoshimoto Bounty in Ghost of Yotei

Once you begin Smiling Yoshimoto’s bounty poster, it’ll tell you that the wanted man was last seen along the Sarubetsu River near Tranquil Falls. Walk along the edge of the river till you reach the falls. Then, look to your right and you’ll see a camp which is lit up by lanterns. If you’re hunting during the day, it may be a little difficult to spot, so look thoroughly.
Make your way to the Weary Traveler’s Camp and investigate the area. Here, you’ll get to see the scope of how truly evil Yoshimoto is. He sets up camps for weary travelers, inviting them to use the resources and rest when tired. You’re now going to use these very resources to lure him in.
Interact with the campfire and set it up to bait Smiling Yoshimoto. A man will then appear, warning you to leave the area. He’ll tell you of the deeds of Yoshimoto and how you should escape before he comes.
In a cutscene, Atsu will then mock Yoshimoto, and this man will surprisingly take offense to her statements. Having no patience for any more offense, the man will then reveal himself to be Yoshimoto. You then have to strike him down in a duel to kill him and complete the bounty.
