In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Ring of Colour Spray is a jewelry item that provides a level 1 illusion spell, and you can get it in Act 1 – this short Guide Explains everything you need to know about the Ring of Colour Spray in BG3.
Ring of Colour Spray Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Ring of Colour Spray grants the wearer access to the Colour Spray spell, a Level 1 Illusion school spell that inflicts blindness on enemies up to a certain amount of hit points. While the spell has a short range and is cast in a conal area of effect (AoE), which may require proximity to the enemy, its potency lies in the ability to blind affected enemies. This blind condition imposes a disadvantage on their attack rolls, and their ranged weapon and spell attacks have no saving throws. Since the spell doesn’t rely on saving throws, it increases your chances of successfully casting it.
In summary, the Ring of Colour Spray provides a valuable early-game spell that not only saps enemy hit points but also applies a significant disadvantage, making them easier to defeat. You can equip it in your character’s ring slot in the inventory, gaining additional bonuses and buffs. No specific requirements limit its use; it can be equipped by characters of any class or companions in your party. It is a good ring for a wizard class.

You can loot the Ring of Colour Spray from the Harpy Nest at Secluded Cove, the beach near Emerald Grove (X:323; Y: 503) during Act 1. Here is a short overview of how to get the Ring of Colour Spray in BG3:
- Complete the prologue
- Head West to reach Emerald Grove (check map for reference)
- Head east from Druidic Circle to the secluded cove beach
- Resist Harpy’s charms and defeat them.
- Find the Harpy Nest south of the battlefield.
- Get the Ring of Colour Spray from the Harpy Nest.
Find the Secluded Cove
You can obtain the Ring of Colour Spray as soon as you arrive at Emerald Grove. Explore the settlement to discover the Druidic circle where druids perform their ritual. From there, head East and follow the path down to the secluded cove, a beach where a small tiefling boy is under the charms of Harpies, bloodthirsty creatures that try to lure their prey with Charm spells and beautiful singing. You must break free from the spell to initiate a fight with them. Alternatively, you can try convincing the boy to flee and not submit to the enchanting singing.

Defeat Harpy
It should be relatively easy for at least one of your characters to break free from the spell, at which point you can engage in a battle with the harpies. They are rather straightforward to defeat. However, it is worth noting that if you witness one of the harpies singing again and successfully casting a spell on one of your companions, it means you will lose control over this character. To break free from Harpy’s influence, try attacking her with other party members to disrupt her concentration and, hopefully, free your character from her grasp.
After the fight, you can explore the area, including the harpy’s nest to the south, where you will find the Ring of Colour Spray (X:323; Y: 503).
