Learn more about all the different types of Morphs and why they are a playable alternative to the races in Throne and Liberty.
Unlike other MMORPGs, Throne and Liberty features the Human race as playable with little else to offer. However, the game has a plethora of NPC creatures, races, and morphs (mounts). But, the main story centers on the human’s fight for survival. Below, we explain more about what to expect during character creation.
This guide has been created based on open beta early access to the NA/EU server and playtesting in Korea. It will be updated throughout the Throne and Liberty launch.
What playable Races have Throne and Liberty?
- Humans
Players can only play the Human race in Throne and Liberty. Also, Throne and Liberty’s main story focuses on humans. However, players in the game’s world can also encounter Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, and more.
The developers have hinted that they may add more character options for players in the future, but for now, they are focusing on Humans. Fans have speculated about the reasons behind this decision, with some believing that only 20% of players choose to play as non-Human characters in fantasy games. Others have pointed out that Amazon Games’ previous title, New World, also only featured the Human race. Regardless of the reason, it’s important not to overlook the Morphs, who offer a unique mechanic and idea to compensate for the lack of diverse races in Throne and Liberty.
What are Morphs in Throne and Liberty?
In Throne and Liberty, players have the ability to utilize morphs, which offer a unique gameplay mechanic that allows them to transform into various creatures. These creatures could be anything from land animals to flying or aquatic creatures. This feature serves as a means of transportation that allows players to traverse the game world with ease, much like mounts in other games. Morphs offer a fun and engaging way for players to explore the vast world of Throne and Liberty and provide a sense of immersion that truly enhances the gaming experience.
In the game, players have the ability to move quickly around the world by flying or swimming. In the Main Menu, players can customize Morph settings to change into different creatures. They can choose the type of creature they want to transform into and their specific form. Some creatures have multiple variants, such as the armored version of the Diatrima bird or Arkhan Diatryma. You can even see other players transformed into different creatures in the image above.
Glide Morphs
- They allow you to fly and move faster in the air.
- You can jump down from high places to turn immediately to glide morph of your choice.
- They are best at fast-moving between points of interest, avoiding any land obstacles.
Aquatic Morphs
- Aquatic Morphs are designed to aid players in traveling in the water.
- They have increased swimming speed.
- You will transform into your water-shapeshifting form as soon as you enter the water.
Land Morphs
- Also called Dash Morphs
- They can run faster on the land than when you use your human form.
- Land Morphs use stamina just like human players, and you will become exhausted if you run out of it.
Just like in your Human form, you can also level up your Morphs in Throne and Liberty. As you progress, you will receive Growth Points that will introduce buffs and new effects depending on the type of morph you use.
