Discover how Luminous Gloves and Armor create an overpowered combo, making it nearly impossible to hit you in Baldur’s Gate 3.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, incoming damage can be avoided via Armour Class, spells, gear, and passives. However, early in Act 1, you can collect Lumious Armour, and later in Act 2, obtain Lumious Gloves. These two items provide a unique debuff called Radiaint Shockwave. Whenever the wearer deals radiant damage, you inflict a radiant orb in a 3-meter radius, which reduces enemies’ attack rolls by -1 for two turns. The strength of these two items in synergy allows you to reduce Attack Rolls by up to 10, giving you a massive chance to avoid attacks.
The Most Overpowered Gloves Armor Combo You’re Not Using – Baldur’s Gate 3
Luminous Armour and gloves overpowered combo allows radiant damage dealers to debuff enemies’ attack rolls. What makes this combination overpowered is you can avoid nearly all attacks when using both as a Light Cleric, who can deal passive radiant damage via Spirit Guardian. Additionally, Paladin, who uses Divine Smite, can use this combination, as can anyone in Act 3 with the Markoheshkir legendary quarterstaff.
Pre-fight, you want to activate Spirit Guardian for a radiant source of damage around you, then use Guiding Bolt or Sacred Flame as your action. Using your Channel Divinity charge, Radiant Dawn will do AOE damage and stack with Spirit Guardian, producing four debuff stacks in one turn. Callous Glow Ring is another helpful item found in Act 2 because it deals an additional two points of Radiant damage to targets “illuminated.” The Blood of Lathander or Moonlight Glaive also passively illuminates light and radiant orb, providing free damage and a chance to debuff targets.
Overpowered Combo Alternative
Alternatively, you can use Gloves of Belligerent Skies and Thunderskin Cloak. This overpowered Armor combo in Baldur’s Gate 3 allows the user to trigger reverberation when dealing radiant damage. Reverberation is a debuff that does the following:
- The affected entity has a -1 penalty to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution Saving throws per remaining turn.
- When the entity has 5 or more turns of Reverberation, it takes 1d4 Thunder damage and must succeed a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or fall Prone Prone. The condition is removed afterward.
Gloves of Belligernt Skies and Luminous Armour allow you to debuff enemies differently. Moreover, if they have five stacks, you can passively stun enemies with Reverberation. This combination is helpful for Tempest Clerics or when the user has a constant source of thunder damage.
Build Tips
The most important part of the overpowered armor combination is triggering radiant damage passively without an action or bonus action. The best way is via the spell Spirit Guardians. A cleric or Bard can obtain this spell, allowing you to cast a 3-meter radius AOE radiant source of damage. The only downside is Spirit Guardians requires concentration. However, you can pre-cast this spell before entering combat to ensure you have an available action on turn one.
With turn one, you want to use an action and bonus action if possible. Guiding Bolt is your best single-target radiant spell, while Divine Smite can also be used for Paladin’s. Moreover, you can use destructive waves or weapons that trigger Radiation damage, such as The Blood of Lathander. Your bonus action should be spent on a Spiritual Weapon, Sanctuary, or a potion like Speed to gain another action. If you have high-level spells, consider using Flame Strike, which does fire and radiant damage.
On the following turn, move close to the highest damage-dealing target so Spirit Guardians re-trigger and add more debuffs depending on your gear. Repeat this process and fight in the front lines with hardly a worry of getting hit due to the -10 attack roll debuff.
