If saved from the Goblins, the Tiefling leader runs into trouble again in Act 2, but should you save Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Zevlor is the leader of the Tiefling refugees in Baldur’s Gate 3, and he will need your help a couple of times throughout the game if he is to make it safely into Act 3. Zevlor may be only a minor character in the larger narrative of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, like many NPCs, the threads of his personal story can be woven in multiple ways. Although his fate is at first interwoven with those of his people, further trouble in Act 2 will require you to personally intervene to save him from an Illithid future.
In this guide, we’ll break down all the information you need to find Zevlor, save him twice over, and the consequences of those actions. Therefore, this guide will contain some spoilers for events in all three Acts of Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Find Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3
You will first encounter Zevlor early on in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3 when you reach the Emerald or Druid Grove. After you fight off the attacking Goblins and are allowed inside, Zelvor will introduce himself as the leader of the Tiefling refugees. They are sheltering here for protection from the Goblins, but the resident Druids are now threatening them with eviction.
Zevlor will ask you to speak with Kahga on the Tiefling’s behalf, which you can do after you meet her within the Inner Sanctum. However, Kahga will rebuff your attempts to find a peaceful resolution. When you speak to Zevlor again he will suggest that Kahga needs to be removed.
We highly recommend that you do not attack Kahga unprovoked, however. This will lead to the Druids immediately attacking all of the Tieflings. If that happens you will be hard-pressed to fight your way through all the Druids and keep any of the Tieflings alive.
Investigate Kagha to Save Zevlor
Instead, we highly recommend that you follow the path of the Investigate Kagha quest, which you can start by finding the first clue in Kagha’s chest inside the Servant’s Quarters. You can find it up a small set of hidden stairs. You will need to crouch and sneak, and only lockpick the chest when you are unseen. Otherwise, the Druids will become hostile.
Remove and then read the Half-Torn Note inside. The information will send you to the very south of the map in the Sunlit Wetlands. There are some wooden docks on the east side of the area. You can jump rocks to make your way to a small island to the south. You’ll have to fight some Wood Woads and Ancient Mud Mephits before you can approach the giant tree trunk.
Inside a crevice on the west side, you’ll find a letter to Kagha that implicates her as a Shadow Druid. Return to the Emerald Grove and confront her at the Inner Sanctum. You might be able to persuade her to back down, but her associates will attack you regardless. After the fight, return to Zevlor and he will gratefully reward you with the Hellrider’s Pride gloves.
Defeat the Goblin Leaders to Save Zevlor
Although you may have resolved the Tiefling/Druid conflict in the Grove, you will still need to save them all from the Goblins if you wish to successfully save Zevlor in Act 1. You must locate and infiltrate the Goblin Camp on the far west side of the Act 1 map. Then, you need to enter the Shattered Sanctum to the north and kill all three Goblin leaders.
Additionally, you can find and save the Archdruid Halsin. Halsin is a potential companion and he will be able to further resolve any lingering issues at the Grove. This is not strictly necessary for saving the Grove. However, you must kill Priestess Gut and Dror Ragzlin. Furthermore, you must either incapacitate (knock out with a non-lethal hit) or outright kill Minthara.
Doing so will save the Grove and the Tieflings, and when you return a grateful Zevlor will thank you for your help. Moreover, he’ll help prepare a celebratory party before everyone leaves.
How to Find Zevlor in Act 2 of BG3
To find Zevlor in Act 2 you must have saved the Tiefling refugees from the Goblins in Act 1, then speak to any of the Tiefling survivors at the Last Light Inn. Additionally, you can discover further information about the ambush and Zevlor’s disappearance by using Speak with Dead on Locke’s corpse at the House of Healing. Moreover, talking to Arabella in Reithwin Town during the quest Find Arabella’s Parents can give you a bit more insight.
However, the Find Zevlor quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 can seem tricky because you will not be able to find any other additional information about Zevlor’s whereabouts. Furthermore, you cannot locate him while exploring the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
Instead, you will need to progress the main story until you are ready to begin the assault on Moonrise Towers. After fighting Ketheric Thorm once, you will have to pursue him down into the Mind Flayer Colony.
How to Save Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3
From the Entrance to the Mind Flayer Colony walk forward and take the first turn to the left to head north into a room filled with Mind Flayer pods. If you look closely at the pods you’ll see Zevlor. Additionally, you’ll discover other trapped people and some who have been transformed into Mind Flayers.
To the north, you will see a Neural Apparatus. Interact with it and your tadpole will make a connection allowing you to release all of the pods in the room. Doing this will not only open Zevlor’s pod but also all of the surrounding pods.
Therefore, be prepared for a fight against at least three Mind Flayers and several Intellect Devourers. Zevlor will be a temporary ally during this fight but he’ll mostly need your protection. Take out the Mind Flayers as quickly as possible to save Zevlor again.
Consequences of Saving Zevlor in BG3
If you are successful in saving Zevlor from the Shadow Druids and Goblins in Act 1, and rescue him from the Mind Flayer Colony in Act 2, then in Act 3 Zevlor will become an ally before the final fight. Zevlor is one of many NPCs that can be recruited during the Gather Your Allies quest. When you reach the High Hall at the end of Act 3, before your final ascent to face the Netherbrain, he will be there to offer his support.
Zevlor will grant you a special class action called Hellrider Platoon. Using this will summon a Hellrider Paladin, a Hellrider Cleric, and Zevlor himself. They will fight for you on the battlefield as allies, and have access to typical Smite spells and reactions.
However, if you call Zevlor into battle you should be aware that he is one of two NPCs that can die permanently. (The other is the Armoured Owlbear.) If he should be killed during the fight, then he will not be around for the Epilogue. Although Zevlor does not attend the Epilogue party, he does have a thank you letter available in the Chest of Grateful Words if he survives all the way through.
