The Sluice Gate puzzle is located in the Lower City Sewers of Baldur’s Gate and it leads to the Abandoned Cistern.
The Sluice Gate Puzzle is associated with the Abandoned Cistern in the undercity of Baldur’s Gate. Players come across it in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, and it often proves to be a challenge.
In this guide, we shall go over how players can get to the Abandoned Cistern and solve the Sluice Gate Puzzle.
How to Get to the Sluice Gate Puzzle
To reach this location, make your way towards the sewers. Go to the Elfsong Tavern and then head to the Emperor’s Old Hideout. Here, you will find a hatch that leads directly into the sewers.
You can also fast-travel to the Basilisk Gate Waypoint. A manhole lies in the alley on the left of the gate that you can use to descend to the sewers. Go down the ladder and break the wall on the left to open up the sewers for exploration.
The Abandoned Cistern and the Sluice Gate Puzzle lie on the western corner of the Lower City Sewers.
How to Solve the Sluice Gate Puzzle
Once you are on the western corner of the map, enter the Sluice Gate Puzzle room, which resembles an industrial complex from 1800s Victorian England. It is filled with steam chambers and valves.
In the corner of the room, past the Water and the Temperature valves, is a note that you can pick up and read. The note gives directions on what needs to be done to open the Sluice Gate and reach the Cistern.
“You probably want to open the Sluice Gate so you can get into the Cistern and muck it out. To do that you need to manipulate the valves to get the water level and heat level to their optimum levels at the same time,” the note reads.
Go to the Water valve and interact with it. The water levels will begin rising and a meter will show up at the top of the screen indicating the level. Once the level hits “Perfect”, close the valve. Now, interact with the Temperature valve and raise the temperature. Keep tabs on the top of the screen. Once you see “Perfect Warmth”, close the valve.
The Sluice Gate will then open, and you can go into the Cistern.
