Is Dragon Age: The Veilguard coming to Xbox Game Pass, or is it exclusively a standalone purchase, separate from the subscription service?
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is mere weeks away from its release. Despite the game’s looming launch date, there’s still plenty that’s not yet known about the title. Developer Bioware and publisher EA have been quite upfront about the game’s console and PC release. However, there has been little to no information on whether the upcoming highly anticipated RPG is coming to subscription services like EA Play and Xbox Game Pass. Thankfully, a quick look at the game’s Xbox Store page reveals all the necessary information about its potential Game Pass release.
While some of EA’s titles in the past did get a day-and-date release on Xbox Game Pass, Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t among one of them. Unfortunately for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the upcoming Dragon Age title isn’t coming to Xbox Game Pass, not at release, at least. Furthermore, the game’s not available via EA Play either. Instead, players with an active EA Play subscription can avail of a $5 discount on the purchase of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Standard or Deluxe Editions.

Which Platform Is Dragon Age: The Veilguard Releasing On?
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on all current generation systems, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. On PC, the game is available via Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App, and the Xbox App. Unfortunately for last-gen console owners, The Veilguard isn’t coming to the PS4 and Xbox One systems. It’s understandable considering the upcoming Dragon Age title is developed using the latest iteration of the Frostbite engine. The same engine powers games like Need for Speed Unbound and Dead Space (remake), both of which are current-gen exclusive titles.
The Veilguard might make its Xbox Game Pass debut in the future akin to other EA-published titles. However, as of writing this article, there’s no official information on the potential Game Pass version of the title.
When Can You Pre-Load Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Pre-orders for Dragon Age: The Veilguard are currently live on all platforms. As for pre-loads, the game is currently available to pre-download on Xbox Series X|S. Pre-loads for the PS5 version of the game are scheduled to go live on October 29, 2024. Bioware has confirmed that there will be no pre-loads for PC. According to Bioware, the lack of PC pre-loads is due to the game not including any “3rd-party DRM (like Denuvo).” Players on PC will be able to download and play The Veilguard on its scheduled release date of October 31, 2024.
