This guide will provide the complete highlights on how to complete the Gate of Parched Hopes quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an action RPG by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The game features different types of quests and categorizes them into main story quests, companion quests, and region quests (aka side quests). The region-specific quests are technically the side quests of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Gate of Parched Hopes is the region quest of Hossberg Wetlands. These quests usually require the players to find champions and get their essence to use on specific roots. Similarly, the Gate of Parched Hopes quest also follows the same mechanism. Come on, let’s track the location of the champion and defeat them.
Gate of Parched Hopes Champion Location
You need to travel through a cave and destroy some Blight Boils to release the champion.
As mentioned above, the Gate of Parched Hopes commences at the Hossberg Wetlands region. When you pass through the Lavendel Village, you will notice a cave containing a large Blight Boils. Destroying it doesn’t require much effort and you can use any weapon.
Investigating the remains leads you to two more Blight Boils. Destroying them leads your path to a new fast-travel point Old Crossroads. Then, you must destroy a Blight Cyst in that area to release the champion.
However, first, you need to take out some Darkspawn, as they are guarding the Blight Cyst. Put on a quick fight with the Darkspawn and clear the area. Destroying the Blight Cyst releases the Champion Disciple-in-Ichor.
How to Defeat the Disciple-in-Ichor: Gate of Parched Hopes Champion
Disciple-in-Ichor is a level 30 champion, who is weak to Fire attacks and resists Necrotic damage. During the fight, the champion will perform jumping attacks, charging dash attacks, and launch several projectiles at you. Evading them is quite easy, as the area of impact is highlighted by a red circle. You need to be away from those spots.
You have surely noticed that the champion possesses two bars, and the arena is surrounded by several Blight Boils as before. The orange bar indicates a shield that protects the boss. Attacking directly or destroying the Blight Boils in the arena removes the orange shield.
Destroying the Blight Boils quickly also helps you prevent the spawning of Darkspawn, which hinders you during the battle. As mentioned above, the champion is weak to fire attacks, dealing fire damage would easily wipe out the champion.
What To Do With the Champion’s Essence in Gate of Parched Hopes?
Defeating the Disciple-in-Ichor rewards the Champion’s Essence along with 350 XP. Claiming the Champion’s Essence will update your quest tracker.
Now, get to Elvhenan’s Haven by taking a floating boat from Beacon Island. Upon reaching, defeat some Qunari enemies and then use the Champion’s Essence in the tree root to end the Gate of Parched Hopes quest.
