Dragon Age: The Veilguard finally received its first major title update since its release last month. Although the update is primarily aimed at addressing bugs and technical issues reported by players, it also comes with a cool new surprise. Surprisingly enough, the update went live right alongside the annual N7 Day.

As a treat from the Mass Effect team at BioWare, the latest title update includes a free costume for players to use for their Rook in-game. The exclusive outfit is themed around Mass Effect’s N7 armor, with colors that match the suit worn by Commander Shepard in the original Mass Effect titles.

Although the Mass Effect-themed costumes are available to all players, they’re not accessible simply by installing the update. Unlike the Pre-order and Deluxe Edition cosmetics, the N7 outfit won’t show up in your inventory automatically. Instead, you’ll have to loot a specific chest to grab it. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to obtain the Mass Effect-themed costumes in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Where To Find the Mass Effect-Themed Costumes in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

The Mass Effect-themed outfit can be found in a chest inside the Lighthouse. The chest is located near the Workshop. Note that the chest only appears after finishing the Harding Companion mission – The Singing Blade. If you’ve already completed it, the chest will spawn near the Workshop the next time you visit the Lighthouse.

The chest contains three outfit parts – the Specter of Battles Past (chest piece), Paragon of Leadership (chest piece), and Command Helmet (headgear). Unfortunately, similar to the Pre-order and Deluxe Edition outfits, the N7 armor is just cosmetic.

As such, it has no stats (attributes) attached to it. You can wear the N7 (Mass Effect) costume on top of your existing armor set via The Veilguard’s “transmog” system. Transmog is also available in the Lighthouse right after completing Harding’s questline.

How To Use the Transmog System in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

To access the transmog system in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you need to interact with the Wardrobe in the Lighthouse. The Wardrobe is the gateway to choosing different looks for your Rook’s armor and weapons. The Wardrobe is located in two places in the Lighthouse:

  • The first location is near the door of the Infirmary.
  • The second location of the Wardrobe is inside the Meditation Room, beside the Infirmary.

Apart from letting you customize your Rook’s outfits, the Wardrobe also includes the option to hide (or unhide) the headgear.
