Professions in Luma Island
At the start of your journey through Luma Island, you are given the option to pick from one of seven available professions, each with its own difficulty levels and mentors to learn from. These professions are as follows:
1. Cook
This is a Level 1 difficulty profession that sees you as a cook. The role requires you to farm for ingredients and use them to cook. The profession places great emphasis on farming ingredients such as fruits and vegetables. Your early game loop will see you setting up a farm to cultivate these necessary ingredients for use in recipes. The profession does not pay well, however, and you may find yourself struggling financially.
2. Brewer
The Brewer profession is very similar to the Cook profession. It is a Level 1 difficulty role that requires more or less the same setup for farming ingredients and brewing beverages. You will be farming for ingredients like grapes, which will then be used to brew drinks. You will also be scavenging a lot more for sand, which is used to make bottles.
3. Treasure Hunter
The Treasure Hunter profession is a Level 1 difficulty profession that emphasizes exploration and requires minimal setup, so you can get to treasure hunting right away. You’re accompanied by a companion dog who assists you in finding treasure. You will have your trusty fishing rod by your side and will spend a lot of time shoreside in hopes of scavenging sunk pirate treasure from the sea.
4. Blacksmith
The Blacksmith is one of the harder professions to jump into, clocking in at a Level 2 difficulty. The profession requires you to hunt for rare resources stashed away in harder parts of the map, making it a challenging pick. You will spend most of your time inside caves, mining for resources. The job does pay well, however, and is a lucrative option for players looking to put in the work.
5. Fisherman
The Fisherman is a Level 2 difficulty profession, but do not let that difficulty tag deceive you. The job is cozy, requiring you to fish and make seafood. You will spend large chunks of time staring into the ocean and catching fish. The other chunk of your time will be spent capturing insects to use as bait. The job also offers the opportunity to engage in business and will get you good amounts of gold really fast and early.
6. Jewelrycrafter
The Jewelrycrafter sees you crafting jewelry using valuable resources. The profession is at Level 2 difficulty and requires a mastery of combat. You have to navigate difficult caves to farm resources, which can be intimidating for a new player. You will scavenge caves for rare stones that you will have to run through the refinery to process and turn into jewelry.
7. Archaeologist
The Archaeologist is the hardest profession in the game, sitting at a Level 3 difficulty. The profession sees you navigating and repairing ancient temples and tombs and requires a mastery of the game’s combat mechanics. Despite the difficulty, however, this profession takes you to some of the most gorgeous locations in the game that you wouldn’t have access to otherwise.
