Clip farming is one of the Gen Z terms that has become famous in recent years. As trends keep changing in every industry, streamers often have to keep up with what’s going on around them. It is something practiced by many streamers now, and viewers often come across such videos. A “clip” means any kind of media, be it a photo or video, and “farming” means sharing the clip in order to gain attention or “clout.”

Urban Dictionary defines it as,

“The act of purposely messing up on camera in the hopes it will be re-uploaded online to get clout and attention.”

What is the aim behind clip farming? It is to garner as many views as possible by featuring “clickbait.” Clickbait refers to a story, image, or thumbnail created in a way to accumulate more clicks on the content. Over the years, it has been in the spotlight and is seen as a desperate move made by streamers.

The founder of clip farming is Jynxzi, who is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch. He plays a variety of games, but his primary game is Rainbow Six Siege. There have been numerous clips from his games that have gone viral on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, which are extremely funny. Many people have commented on his videos, claiming that it is clip farming because of his obvious and forced reactions.

Jynzxi’s Practices of Clip Farming

Nicholas Stewart, popularly known as Jynxzi, is an American YouTuber residing in Florida, United States. He started uploading content in 2020 and predominantly plays the video game Rainbow Six Siege while hosting Just Chatting streams. However, he has drastically grown over the years, thanks to his antics of clip farming.

Nicholas streams daily on his Twitch channel and uploads videos on his YouTube channel. Currently, he has a total of 6.6 million followers on Twitch and 4.15 million subscribers on YouTube. He has faced a lot of backlash for his antics of clip farming to garner views.

Jynxzi called out Twitch streamer Cody, popularly known as “Clix,” for clip farming too. The two have been on bad terms since Clix uploaded a picture of Jynxzi’s girlfriend, Breckie Hill after he won a $10,000 Rainbow Six Siege wager. Jynxzi said:

“That’s literally all it is, bro. Clix is clip farming, that’s it. Bro, I’m all for a good clip farm, you guys know that, bro. But, like, that type of clip farm – that’s like next level. That’s like, ‘Hey, I need clout tonight!’ That’s like, ‘I need clout within the next five minutes!’ That’s like what your brain would go to.”

To which Clix replied:

“I don’t give a f**k what you all possibly say. Y’all can s*ck his d*ck all you want. That motherf**er has his whole career made off of clip farming for content. There’s a difference between having a real personality on-stream and having a fake personality off-stream. Bro, doing s**t on purpose on-stream – to be cr*zy – that is what clip farming is! You have no right to tell me that I’m clip farming!”
