Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has an interesting ‘puzzle hint’ feature which will make the gaming community happy!
The puzzle-loving group of gamers must be delighted with the offerings of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. When the game puts you in Indy’s shoes, it expects you to be an equally apt problem solver. Bethesda did not go overboard with the hints, which enhanced the gameplay experience.
Puzzles in modern AAA games usually have an array of elaborate hints. Often these hints ruin the experience for hardcore puzzle solvers.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle took a subtle route while delivering hints. Rather than coding NPCs or the protagonist to repeat the hint in a dialogue, players have to deliberately opt for a hint. This can be done by whipping out Indy’s in-game camera and clicking. This time around, when you aim at the puzzle, you will see a prompt saying “take hint picture“, right next to the clicking button prompt. Doing so will reveal the hint on the left side of the screen.
Beware though, the hint can sometimes be the entire solution to a puzzle. However, since you would have to press the prompt button to get it, you can’t “accidentally” stumble upon the hint.

Is Indiana Jones’ Puzzle Hint Feature the New Future?
Developers have gotten creative in the past with puzzle hints. However, a balance between creativity and satisfying players was rare, and Indiana Jones succeeded in achieving it.
Those who haven’t experienced obnoxious puzzle hint dialogues wouldn’t know the frustration they can bring along them. So, moving forward, we can expect more games to include this feature in their puzzle sequences.
However, the dev teams of other games shouldn’t just copy the exact same hint prompt as the Great Circle. Pulling out a camera and clicking a specific picture for a hint could feel unoriginal.
Instead, the industry can get creative with these types of hints and hopefully save us from unprompted hints. A button prompt followed by a dialogue hint in the Uncharted series is an example of a simple yet effective way to keep gamers satisfied.
