What Is The Beginning After the End About?

The Beginning After the End tells the tale of an unhappy king who is reincarnated into a fantasy world. Taking the name of Arthur Leywin, the protagonist enjoys spending time with his family while learning about the magical elements of his new surroundings.

Due to his past life and innate talent, he quickly makes his position as a genius known, rapidly gaining strength. However, his happy and peaceful life only lasts so long, as Arthur soon discovers several dark forces threatening his loved ones.

Hence, this ropes him into many confrontations while taking us across the expansive and diverse setting. The series draws inspiration from Mushoku Tensei, initially seeming very similar. However, it soon sets itself apart with memorable characters, political tensions, Arthur’s development, and more.

For those who enjoy Isekai tales but have been craving a more serious take, this will be a perfect fit. With exhilarating battles, gorgeous designs, and hype moments, the praise received for the novel and manhwa is well-deserved.

The Controversy Surrounding The Beginning After the End Anime

We have seen how The Beginning After the End source material is considered to be a masterpiece; however, the anime is off to a very bad start. This stemmed right from the announcement of the studio.

A-Cat is not a newcomer but was originally established in 1996. Unfortunately, despite this, they have failed to create any standout projects. Their highest-rated anime, Battle Game in 5 Seconds, only has a 6.75 rating on MyAnimeList.

Fans still held hope since we have seen studios outperform their reputations in the past. However, the trailer of the series only added fuel to the fire. Apart from the animation, which lacked fluidity, viewers were disappointed to see the dragon Sylvia as a large CGI creature.

Given that this character is crucial to Arthur’s development and an important figure, her flawed design caused heavy controversy. The first half of The Beginning After the End is “calmer” compared to the chaotic events that soon unfold. Since the studio seems to be struggling right from the beginning, the fandom fears what this may mean in the long run when brutal battles and wars unfold.

Therefore, fans of the source material and Isekai appreciators will be hoping for the studio to prove everyone wrong. The first visuals are far from promising, but the common expectation will be for the actual anime to deliver a satisfying product.

Conclusion

The Beginning After the End anime has the potential to be one of the best Isekai adaptations if handled correctly. While it has a long road ahead of it due to the heavy controversy, everyone sincerely wishes for Studio A-Cat to surprise them.

The Beginning After the End anime is scheduled for release on April 2, 2025, available globally on Crunchyroll.
