Is Nayuta dead in Chainsaw Man Part 2? Explore the answer to this question and why some fans believe the opposite.

Chainsaw Man Part 2 has continued the legacy of its predecessor in full force, introducing several fascinating devils and shocking fans through plot twists. Nayuta, Denji’s unofficial younger sister, comes under both of these categories. Her adorable bond with Denji is one of the highlights of the series, while her recent fate left readers flabbergasted. So, is Nayuta dead in Chainsaw Man Part 2?
Nayuta appears to be dead in Chainsaw Man Part 2, but a few fans don’t trust this to be the case. Here is a closer look at her ambiguous ending.
Who Is Nayuta in the Chainsaw Man Universe?

After Denji ate Makima at the end of Chainsaw Man Part 1, the Control Devil was reborn in the series. This is Nayuta, a young girl whose appearance is eerily similar to Makima. However, to prevent her from going astray, Kishibe assigned Denji to look after her.
Thanks to his care, Nayuta is a more innocent Control Devil who is very protective of Denji. She enjoys his company but is wary of people who try to get too close. At the same time, Nayuta’s morality is much like a child’s. She has no qualms about controlling Asa and killing humans.
However, she doesn’t go out of her way for a grander purpose. Rather, Nayuta enjoys spending time with Denji. Hence, the second coming of the Control Devil is widely different from the first. While Nayuta’s powers are similar to Makima’s, she is a beloved figure rather than being hated.
Nayuta’s Role in Chainsaw Man Part 2

Nayuta is one of the most important figures in Chainsaw Man Part 2, being one of the few positive relationships Denji shares with others. While they were initially distant, Nayuta and Denji’s growth and bond are heartwarming. He showers her with love and care while she considers him her older brother.
Due to this, when the Chainsaw Man Church targeted Denji, Nayuta jumped into action. She was distressed by the group’s wishes to turn Denji into the Chainsaw Devil and fought back against them.
Following this, she attacked a leading member, Barem, who instigated a mob of people to overpower her. Unfortunately, since Nayuta was young and didn’t have perfect control over her powers, she was cornered. Soon after this, the scene was cut, with Nayuta’s fate being left in suspense. Finally, chapter 170 of the Chainsaw Man manga revealed the horrifying truth.
Nayuta’s Fate in Chainsaw Man Part 2

After Denji regained his senses, he was frantically searching for the missing Nayuta. At this point, he was taken to a sushi restaurant to raise his spirits, where he met Barem. While immediately aiming to attack him, Barem shared that he knew where Nayuta was.
Following this, the Chainsaw Man Church member explained his goals of wanting to see the real Chainsaw Man and erase devil names. Stating how the key to drawing out Pochita’s power would involve Denji’s unhappiness, Barem ordered the sushi chef to send an item down the belt.
This moment proved to be one of the most horrifying Chainsaw Man scenes, as we saw Nayuta’s head along with the other sushi. It appalled everyone on the scene, making Denji lose consciousness and become the “Hero of Hell,” Chainsaw Man.

Nayuta is yet to make another appearance after this scene. Therefore, there is good reason to believe that she is dead in Chainsaw Man Part 2. However, some fans refuse to trust this conclusion.
Why Do Fans Think Nayuta Is Not Dead?
One common argument fans give for why Nayuta isn’t dead is that she is a devil. We had seen Quanxi return earlier in the series, and the same may apply to her. Unfortunately, this theory doesn’t hold true.
Quanxi is a hybrid who retains her form no matter her death and rebirth. Nayuta, on the other hand, is the Control Devil itself, who changes forms with every cycle. Hence, similar to what happened with Makima, if she were dead, another Control Devil would be born.

However, a more valid point fans make is that Nayuta’s death was too abrupt. For the closest connection Denji shares in Chainsaw Man, her ambiguous death was never expanded upon. Fujimoto is not a creator who relies on killing his characters off-screen. Since this happened to Nayuta, some readers believe it may not be real.
Additionally, Nayuta has a signature mole under her left eye, while the head appearing on the sushi belt doesn’t. It is possible that Fujimoto forgot to include this, but another reason may be that it was a fake. Since Barem simply wanted Denji to feel sadness and bring out his form, he could have achieved this by making the protagonist think his sister was dead.
Therefore, there are still a lot of questions surrounding Nayuta’s death. Seeing her head would ordinarily imply that she is dead, but one can never take the unique Chainsaw Man storyline at face value.
Conclusion
As of now, Nayuta is dead in Chainsaw Man Part 2, but there is a chance for it to be disproven. Chapter 195 of the manga also introduces a new character with the same multiple-ringed eyes as Nayuta, Makima, and Fami.
While some believe this to be the Death Devil, others think it could be the Control Devil’s reincarnation. Hence, fans are expecting more answers regarding Nayuta’s fate in the coming chapters.
