JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a long-running anime and manga series that has captivated fans through its expansive world, unique characters, and creative power system. Throughout the nine parts, the series has delved into all sorts of settings and scenarios, constantly showcasing Hirohiko Araki’s masterful writing.

Following the end of JoJolion, the newest venture of the creator is titled The JoJoLands, set in the “Steel Ball Run Universe”. It has been published in Shueisha’s Monthly Ultra Jump Magazine since February 17, 2023. At the time of writing this article, The JoJoLands also has 22 chapters that have been released and are ongoing. Here is everything we know about it.

The JoJoLands is part 9 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, following another descendant of the Joestar Family, Jodio Joestar. The series revolves around his dream of becoming rich with his sister in Hawaii.

While committing crimes under a gang lord, Jodio and his group are sent on a mission to steal a valuable diamond from Rohan Kishibe. During this expedition, however, the protagonist finds a mysterious artifact called a Lava Rock, attracting valuable objects towards it.

When testing its properties, he soon finds himself entangled in exhilarating battles against groups aiming for the rock. The series’ main antagonist at this point is Acca Howler, the CEO of the HOWLER Company. He has sent his subordinates to retrieve the Lava Rock while specifically targeting Jodio for seeing confidential information related to his company.

Technically, since The JoJoLands only exists within the “Steel Ball Run Universe”, fans can jump into it after reading Part 7 – Steel Ball Run and Part 8 – JoJolion. However, even in this new era, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has constantly made parallels to the first six parts.

Understanding the Joestar lineage, how the world came to be this way, and enjoying the alternate versions of characters such as Rohan Kishibe will completely elevate your experience.

Hence, we recommend watching or reading all eight parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure before reading The JoJoLands. These include:

  • Phantom Blood
  • Battle Tendency
  • Stardust Crusaders
  • Diamond Is Unbreakable
  • Golden Wind
  • Stone Ocean
  • Steel Ball Run
  • JoJolion

As we have already seen, The JoJoLands is currently published in the Ultra Jump Magazine. Unfortunately, apart from Japanese fans, accessing this is very difficult for global fans. Additionally, there is not much luck on the digital side either.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a product of Shueisha, and the company is not completely caught up to officially translating it. Viz announced that Steel Ball Run would be getting its English release in the Summer, 2025. Therefore, Parts 8 and 9 be properly available worldwide only after this is finished.

However, since JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has immense popularity, it has a plethora of fan translations online. Most readers rely on them so they don’t have to wait for years before the official translations come out.

The final Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga to get an anime adaptation was Part 6 – Stone Ocean. While there are several assumptions among fans that Steel Ball Run is currently being produced, no official confirmation has been made.

Therefore, no, The JoJoLands manga does not have an anime adaptation. Much like the official English release schedule itself, fans will have to wait for Steel Ball Run and JoJolion to get adapted before The JoJoLands gets its chance.

However, the manga is still in its early stages and the studio, David Production, generally takes large breaks between seasons. Hence, it could be close to a decade before we see The JoJoLands anime.

Is It Worth Reading The JoJoLands?

There is no doubt in the minds of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fans that The JoJoLands is a must-read. The main reason for this is Jodio Joestar. Jodio is JoJo’s most morally ambiguous protagonist. He is quick to anger, has antisocial personality disorder, and has no qualms about committing crimes.

This life centered around delinquency, where the main character is far from a heroic figure, is unique to JoJo. The setting of Hawaii is also new, compared to JoJolion which took us back to Morioh.

In addition, The JoJoLands features the highlights we have come to expect from Araki. It has stunning art, exhilarating fights, memorable new characters, and creative Stands. It has significantly enriched the world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and you won’t regret tagging along for the ride.
