JoJolion draws direct parallels to Diamond Is Unbreakable, set in the same town and featuring characters with the same names. However, being an alternate reality, it quickly distinguishes itself by offering a different take on the beloved Part 4 storyline.
The manga begins by introducing Josuke Higashikata, a young man suffering from amnesia buried underground. Upon being saved by a local girl named Yasuho, he gets adopted by the Higashikata Family and sets off to discover his identity.
Throughout his adventures, Josuke comes across a variety of antagonists, mainly the Rock Humans aiming to target the Locaca Fruit which can cure any condition through equivalent exchange. He also finds his origins directly connected to these events, having been made through the fusion of Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Kujo.
Hence, this sends Josuke into a constant series of chaotic events, as he aims to find the Locaca Fruit and prevent the antagonists from using it for their means. The elements of mystery, family drama, and classic JoJo battles make this part a delight for fans.
How Does JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: JoJolion End?
The final arc of JoJolion revolves around the battle between Josuke and the main antagonist of the series, Toru. As the original mastermind behind the Locaca Organization which consisted of Rock Humans searching for the Locaca, Toru had cleverly disguised his appearance for most of the series.
By using his automatic Stand Wonder of U, he could inflict a calamity upon anyone aiming to pursue him. This posed a great threat to the main cast, overpowering Josuke and killing the likes of Rai. However, due to Kei Nijimura’s intervention, Josuke was able to use his Stand, Soft & Wet’s new Go Beyond ability, to harm both Toru and his Stand.
With the help of other allies, such as Yasuho, the antagonist was on the back foot, desperate to save himself. Soon after, he ran into Kaato Higashikata and attempted to stab her, only to get caught in her Space Trucking ability. This skill allowed her to store things inside cards, where she had kept Tsurugi – a patient of Rock Disease.
The scheme of the two, who had hidden their intentions, came to fruition. Since Toru had eaten a Locaca shortly before to heal himself, the concept of equivalent exchange came back to bite him due to his contact with Rock Disease. This resulted in both Toru and Wonder of U crumbling away.
Hence, the series ends with Josuke rejoining his adoptive family and gaining clarity about his sense of self. Despite having leftover memories from his past self, he begins looking forward to life as the current Josuke Higashikata.
The Final Fates of All Main Characters From JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: JoJolion
- Josuke – After Toru’s defeat, Josuke comes to terms with his fragmented identity and finds purpose in his new existence. He is seen happily reuniting with his adoptive family by the end of the series.
- Toru – Toru is injured due to Josuke’s new Go Beyond abilities while finally being killed by Kaato and Tsurugi’s scheme. Concurrently, his Stand Wonder of U also fades away.
- Yasuho – Following the antagonist’s defeat, Yasuho continues living in Morioh with Josuke. She takes pride in his development, shedding a tear when the protagonist reunites with his family.
- Norisuke – As the head of the Higashikata Family, Norisuke adopted Josuke and was instrumental in his quest to find his identity. He loved all his children and discovered Jobin’s plan to betray the family. While confronting him, he was severely injured by his son. Nevertheless, after the main battle ends, Norisuke recovers in the hospital and is greeted by his entire family.
- Jobin – The complex antagonist Jobin Higashikata is tragically killed after coming into contact with Toru and getting hit by Wonder of U’s calamity.
- Joshu – Joshu Higashikata was an important figure in the final battle against Toru. After the villain’s defeat, he recovers from his injuries and celebrates Norisuke’s discharge with the rest of his family.
- Rai – Josuke’s ally Rai dies in the final confrontation against Wonder of U after being struck by a calamity. However, in his last moments, Rai assisted Josuke in unlocking Go Beyond helping the protagonist win.
What Happens in the Manga After JoJolion?
Following JoJolion’s ending, Araki continues the new saga set in the “SBR Universe” with Part 9 – The JoJoLands. This follows Jodio Joestar, a young boy in Hawaii aiming to strike it rich. While carrying out jobs for a crime lord, he finds a mysterious Lava Rock that attracts valuable material.
While testing this out in hopes of achieving his ambition, Jodio runs into all kinds of allies, enemies, and intense Stand battles. The JoJoLands continues the diverse world of JoJo while featuring its least ethical protagonist. Jodio is an antisocial person who has no qualms about committing crimes.
