Assassin’s Creed Shadows: The Yamabushi Imposters Target Guide: Identity, Rewards, and More

The Yamabushi are an infamous organization known for creating a state of havoc wherever they go. In this article, we will take a look at how to locate and assassinate the Yamabushi Imposters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Additionally, the mission is materially satisfying as it provides us with some useful rewards.

The quest begins by meeting Genpaku, who will be right in front of the location from where you begin the mission ‘Path of Serenity’. He informs us about the Yamabushi Imposters, after which the quest is unlocked and it becomes visible in the Objective menu.

All Yamabushi Imposter Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

These are all the locations of the nine Yamabushi Imposters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows:

1. Pond Yamabushi – This Yamabushi can be found in the western area of the region of Omi. Head towards the Three-Trunked Tree and meditate. After you are done meditating, the Yamaguchi will attempt to attack you from the back.
2. River Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is in the region of Yamato, towards the central part of Yoshino. His last known location was in Mitarai Valley. To the left of the Ominesanji Temple, use the fast-travel point. Travel to the blip, and you will reach the cliff of a mountain. The imposter will be by the lake, practicing moves with his sword.
3. Forest Yamabushi – This Yamabushi can be found in the region of Kii, hiding between the Wakanoura Bay and Saia Castle. Once you reach Nyu-Daimyojin Shrine at Saika, head up the flight of stairs, and you will find the Yamabushi imposter sitting.
4. Mountain Yamabushi – This Yamabushi can be found in the region of Omi. First, enter the Kawachi Kazaana Cave, which is to the east of Lake Biwa and south of Ibu Highlands. Once in the cave, to the left of the bonfire, you will find a blood trail leading further into the cave. Follow the path till you see the dead body of the Mountain Yamabushi.
5. Clifftop Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is found on a cliff situated in the eastern part of the Kii region. Reaching this point is tricky, as you will have to follow The Path of the Chosen. Once there, you will find the Clifftop Yamabushi.
6. Pathway Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is located in Shingu, in the region of Kii. Based on the time of the day, his location will change within the same area.
7. Village Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is located in the region of Iga, at the Mibuno Vale. Once in the area, head towards the Shinobi Training Grounds, towards the waterfall. Ascend the flight of stairs by the shrine, and at the top to the left, you will find the Village Yamabushi.
8. Shadow Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is in the region of Iga. To be more specific, he will be at the Otogi Pass, to the north of Kasuga Shrine, near the Fibuyashi Clan graveyard. Head up to the Kasuga Shrine, and you will find the Shadow Yamabushi perching by the edge of the cliff.
9. Valley Yamabushi – This Yamabushi is in the region of Iga, on the southwestern side. He will be by the cabin.

After reaching the location of each of the Yamabushi imposters, you will be presented with a duel. As soon as you defeat the imposters, you will unlock the following rewards.

After defeating all the Yamabushi Imposters, return to Genpaku at the Path of Serenity and talk to him. You will receive another reward, which is the Secluded Shinto Shrine – Outdoor Cosmetic.
