Dune Awakening features five distinct classes (or the Schools of the Imperium), each specializing in unique tactics and combat styles. The Trooper is a versatile class that allows you to dominate the battlefield from a safe distance. Excelling in mid-long range combat, they handle different types of weaponry and suspensors to deal with enemies effectively.

The Trooper class includes three skill trees, similar to the other classes. They are Gunnery, Suspensor Training, and Tactical Tech, with each focusing on specific specialized skills. Unlocking and equipping the right skills can make a huge difference during your encounters. Here are the best skills for Trooper in Dune Awakening that you should unlock first.

Ranged Damage

Skill Tree: Gunnery (Passive)

The Ranged Damage passive skill from the Gunnery skill tree serves as the best starter skill for the Trooper class. It grants bonus damage to all ranged weapons. Since the Trooper is primarily focused on ranged attacks and weapons, this damage boost can be highly effective. On level 3, the skill provides a 15% increase in ranged damage, making a notable difference.

Heavy Weapon Damage

Skill Tree: Gunnery (Passive)

The Trooper can wield heavy weapons like a Flamethrower, a Lasgun, or a Vulcan GAU-92. While they can already deal considerable good damage, it can be further enhanced with the Heavy Weapon Damage passive skill, which boosts heavy weapons damage. It offers a 20% boost to heavy weapon damage at tier 3. You can also pair Heavy Weapon Damage with the Underslung Agility skill, which increases movement speed while carrying heavy weapons.

Suspensor Blast

Skill Tree: Suspensor Training (Ability)

The Suspensor Blast is an ideal choice for crowd control, just like the other skills from the Suspensor Training skill tree. While others allow you to trap enemies within a sphere and slow down their attacks and movements, the Suspensor Blast takes one step further. It releases a massive energy and explodes around you, dealing damage to nearby enemies and impairing their movements. Moreover, holding the ability button can increase the damage further.

Shigawire Claw

Skill Tree: Tactical Tech (Ability)

While most skills boost your offensive and defensive capabilities, the Shigawire Claw ability from the Tactical Tech skill tree enhances your mobility across the battlefield. It allows you to quickly maneuver across the terrain by firing a claw attached to a cable of shigawire. In addition to the movement boost, it can also be used to stagger opponents.

Battle Hardened

Skill Tree: Tactical Tech (Technique)

If you rely heavily on your abilities more often during combat, the Battle Hardened skill can be a lifesaver. This technique from the Tactical Tech tree allows you to use your abilities frequently. While it reduces the ability cooldown by 20% at level 1, it scales up to 25% and 30% with the subsequent level ups. Equipping the Battle Hardened technique allows you to perform abilities like Suspensor Blast, Shigawire Claw, and Explosive Grenade more often.

Explosive Grenade

Skill Tree: Tactical Tech (Ability)

Finally, we have another ability from the Tactical Tech tree—Explosive Grenade. This skill allows you to throw a grenade that creates a massive AoE within the radius. While it deals 75 damage at level 1, it increases dramatically to 490 at level 3. Although the sharpnels cannot penetrate shields, it still staggers shielded opponents.
